IPL 2021 postponed due to bio-secure bubble breaches
Indian Premier League IPL 2021 India has been delayed indefinitely. This happened following a few positive Covid-19 cases across franchises over the recent days. There is no authority word yet on when or whether the rest of the tournament will be organized. However, BCCI VP Rajiv Shukla was unequivocal it “will occur” and a choice would be taken when the pandemic circumstance improved.
What caused the IPL 2021 bio-secure bubble breaches?
While players within the bio-secure bubble contracted the virus, the ongoing season postponed. The chief executive a week ago assured that they are playing for the ‘service to humanity and they were ‘totally safe.’ The breach has caused them 2000 crores. The FOB, meant to be a GPS tracking device for the players in the bubble to track movement of individuals failed to live up to the standards. The tracking devices from a Chennai-based company were faulty. And the tip of the iceberg was ‘food deliveries’ from the outside.
Statement released by BCCI
In a statement, the IPL announced that the decision was “unanimously” taken by the tournament’s Governing Council and the BCCI. “The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff, and the other participants.”
“This decision was taken keeping the safety, health, and wellbeing of all the stakeholders in mind.”
Furthermore, “These are difficult times, especially in India, and while we have tried to bring in some positivity and cheer. However, it is imperative that the tournament is now suspended. And everyone goes back to their families and loved ones in these trying times.”
The statement also said the BCCI would do “do everything in its powers to arrange for the secure and safe passage of all the participants in IPL 2021.”
Shoaib Akhtar was right!
Shoaib Akhar also called for the postponement of IPL due to the alarming situation of Covid-19 in the past. He said, “India is facing a devastating situation. They need to stop the IPL if it can’t continue without strict SOPs in place but otherwise, considering that India is burning, it needs to be postponed. I’m not saying this because PSL was postponed. I also think PSL shouldn’t take place in June.”

He further said, “IPL is not important and the money spent on it can be better used to buy oxygen tanks. That can save people from dying. We don’t need cricket, heroes, and entertainment at the moment. We want to save lives in India and Pakistan. I’m using these strong words because human lives are at stake.”
Dale Steyn vs Aashish Chandorkar
Dale Steyn brutally trolled a fan on Twitter with this whole IPL fiasco. The South African bowler slew at a fan who had seemingly made fun of the Pakistan Super League PSL. PSL also couldn’t conduct the tournament successfully earlier this year.
The tweet from Aashish Chandorkar reads,
To which Dale replied, “Haha you’re funny.” And that was not all, he replied to the same thread after the IPL got postponed with a “hi” and an emoji with a mask on. OUCH!

Franchises ask to move PSL 2021 to UAE for remaining matches
In recent developments, Pakistan Super League franchises also ask PSL to move to UAE for the remaining matches. Since there is a wide surge in the Covid-19 cases along with a lockdown. The idea to move the entire team with failed testing procedures for the virus is not a great idea.
PSL 2021 was suspended after 14 matches played between February 20 till March 3, 2021 in Karachi.
