There is no denying that Indian Web series content is transcending boundaries. From Delhi Crimes to Scam 1992, the variety of different genres is seen and appreciated by fans. Furthermore, the cinematography and raw acting make it original. Similarly mini web series is also taking a much stronger place on YouTube. Aspirants by The Viral Fever is the pioneer of them.
Aspirants
‘Aspirants’ is a 2021’s mini web series released on YouTube by The Viral Fever. After Pitchers, Kota Factory, and Panchayat, Aspirants is one of their binge-worthy production. The cast includes Naveen Kasturia, Shivkanit Parihar, Abhilash Thapliyal, Sunny Hinduja, and Namita Dubey. The series is directed by Apoorv Singh Karki and comprises 5 episodes. Moreover, the music is composed by Rohit Sharma, Tushar Mallek, and Nilotpal Bora.
Storyline and review
Set in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar, the series rotates around three friends “Tripod”, as Abhilash (Naveen Kasturia), Shwetketu aka SK, and Guri (Shivankit Parihar). The story moves to and fro from the past to the present. The flashback scenes include the fight, frustrations, hopelessness, any expectation of UPSC aspirants, while the present includes the results of their decisions. (UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission is India’s central agency, which conducts various exams such as, Civil Services Exam, IFS, NDA, CDS, SCRA, etc. Civil services examination is popularly known as IAS Exam and includes almost 24 services). While every one of the three was getting ready for the UPSC, just Abhilash succeeds, while SK turns into an educator, and Guri runs his dad’s shoe manufacturing plant.
Character arcs and much more from Aspirants
Abhilash Thapliyal as Shwetketu also known as SK is by far the strongest character among the trio from the old college days. In the series, he also attempts to bring Abhilash and Guri closer. Abhilash is as splendid as Shwetketu. Naveen Kasturia has also done a great job as a weak Abhilash. Sunny Hinduja as Sandeep Bhaiyaa outshines every other character. Sunny and Naveen’s scenes are an absolute delight to watch in the series. Namita is shown as a reasonable and smart character; she is definitely shown as a strong woman who knows her stance well. The dialogues are set according to the scenes and justify the whole aura that intact the audience’s attention to the last episode.
The magnificent background score
Last, but not least, the background score is one of the most coherent and strongest elements of this web series. It simply amalgamates every scene and gives you a different type of emotion. Even though the series has a well-expected ending, but the screen portrayal is a definite win.
