All you need to know about Money Heist season 1 – 4
Part 1 opens with the aftermath of a failed bank robbery by a woman named Tokyo. A man named “Professor” saves her from being apprehended by the cops and offers her a massive heist.
The tale leaps to the start of a multi-day attack on the Royal Mint of Spain in Madrid after a brief explanation of the intended theft. Tokyo, Moscow, Berlin, Nairobi, Rio de Janeiro, Denver, Helsinki, and Oslo are the code names for the eight thieves. The robbers, dressed in red jumpsuits and wearing a Salvador Dal mask, grab 67 hostages as part of their plot to print and flee with €2.4 billion down a self-built escape tunnel.
The professor and his charm!
The Professor is in charge of the robbery from afar. The five months of training in an abandoned hunting estate in the Toledo countryside are seen in flashbacks throughout the series; the thieves are not to exchange personal information or engage in personal relationships, and the assault will be bloodless.
The thieves within the Mint struggle to follow the pre-determined regulations in parts 1 and 2, and are confronted with recalcitrant captives, brutality, isolation, and mutiny. The events are narrated by Tokyo through voice-overs. Inspector Raquel Murillo of the National Police Corps negotiates with the Professor on the outside and develops an intimate connection with his alter ego “Salva” while Denver pursues a love affair with the hostage Mónica Gaztambide.
Falling in love during a heist
The Professor’s actual identity is constantly threatened, until Raquel discovers it, but is emotionally unable and reluctant to hand him over to the cops. Part 2 concludes with the thieves successfully escaping the Mint with €984 million printed, but at the expense of the deaths of the people of Oslo, Moscow, and Berlin. Raquel discovers a series of postcards left by the Professor, who penned the coordinates for a place in Palawan, Philippines, where she reunites with him a year after the robbery.

Money Heist Season 2
Part 3 picks up two to three years after the robbery at the Royal Mint of Spain and shows the criminals living happily ever after in various locales. When Rio is apprehended by Europol using an intercepted phone, the Professor recalls Berlin’s previous intentions to attack the Bank of Spain in order to persuade Europol to hand over Rio and avoid his torture. He and Raquel (a.k.a. “Lisbon”) reassemble the gang, which includes Mónica (a.k.a. “Stockholm”), and recruit three new members: Bogotá, Palermo, and Marseille, with Palermo in command. The planned new robbery and their contrasting attitudes to love are outlined through flashbacks to the Professor and Berlin.

Another Heist – bigger than before
The masked robbers break into the tightly secured bank, kidnap hostages, and then steal the riches and state secrets. Simultaneously, the Professor and Lisbon go in an RV and later an ambulance, talking with the criminals and the cops. The police, commanded by Colonel Luis Tamayo and pregnant inspector Alicia Sierra, are forced to surrender Rio to the criminals when a bank break-in is foiled. Nairobi is seriously injured by a sniper shot to the chest delivered by the police, and the cops apprehend Lisbon.
With another police attack on the bank imminent, the Professor contacts Palermo and declares DEFCON 2 on the cops, thinking Lisbon to have been assassinated by the cops.
Part 3 ends with Tokyo describing that the Professor had fallen for his own trap. And that “the battle had begun,” and showing Lisbon alive and in jail.
