Naomi Osaka quits French Open after news conference dispute
Naomi Osaka quits French Open
Tennis star Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from the French Open in the midst of a debate over her choice not to go to news meetings after her matches. The astonishing new development that Osaka reported via social media. This came a day after the four-time Grand Slam champion was fined $15,000. She avoided the news conference following her initial match victory on Sunday.
Notwithstanding the fine, every one of the four Grand Slam competitions—Australian, French, and United States Opens just as Wimbledon—threatened her with harsher punishments, including possible exclusions or suspensions.
“I think now the best thing for the tournament, the other players and my well-being are that I withdraw so that everyone can go back to focusing on the tennis going on in Paris,” Osaka said.
Depression
She had never before spoken in public about her depression. It began after her 2018 victory over Serena Williams at the United States Open. Before a boisterous crowd that was firmly behind her opponent.
“I never wanted to be a distraction and I accept that my timing was not ideal and my message could have been clearer,” she added. “The truth is that I have suffered long bouts of depression since the US Open in 2018 and I have had a really hard time coping with that.”

PSL 2021 postponement due to bio-secure bubble breaches in March
The Pakistan Super League PSL 2021 season was suspended due to the sudden surge in the number of Covid-19 cases. Some bio-secure bubble breaches were also found by some of the team members during the matches. PCB said that the decision was taken “following a meeting with the team owners and considering the health and wellbeing of all participants.” The prime focus for the board and the organizers is the “safe and secure passage of all participants, and arrange repeat PCR tests, vaccines and isolation facilities to the six participating sides.”

IPL 2021 postponed due to bio-secure bubble breaches
Indian Premier League IPL 2021 India has been delayed indefinitely. This happened following a few positive Covid-19 cases across franchises over the recent days. There is no authority word yet on when or whether the rest of the tournament will be organized. However, BCCI VP Rajiv Shukla was unequivocal it “will occur” and a choice would be taken when the pandemic circumstance improved.
What caused the IPL 2021 bio-secure bubble breaches?
While players within the bio-secure bubble contracted the virus, the ongoing season postponed. The chief executive a week ago assured that they are playing for the ‘service to humanity and they were ‘totally safe.’ The breach has caused them 2000 crores. The FOB, meant to be a GPS tracking device for the players in the bubble to track movement of individuals failed to live up to the standards. The tracking devices from a Chennai-based company were faulty. And the tip of the iceberg was ‘food deliveries’ from the outside.
Statement released by BCCI
In a statement, the IPL announced that the decision was “unanimously” taken by the tournament’s Governing Council and the BCCI. “The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff, and the other participants.”
“This decision was taken keeping the safety, health, and wellbeing of all the stakeholders in mind.”
Furthermore, “These are difficult times, especially in India, and while we have tried to bring in some positivity and cheer. However, it is imperative that the tournament is now suspended. And everyone goes back to their families and loved ones in these trying times.”
The statement also said the BCCI would do “do everything in its powers to arrange for the secure and safe passage of all the participants in IPL 2021.”
Shoaib Akhtar was right!
Shoaib Akhar also called for the postponement of IPL due to the alarming situation of Covid-19 in the past. He said, “India is facing a devastating situation. They need to stop the IPL if it can’t continue without strict SOPs in place but otherwise, considering that India is burning, it needs to be postponed. I’m not saying this because PSL was postponed. I also think PSL shouldn’t take place in June.”

He further said, “IPL is not important and the money spent on it can be better used to buy oxygen tanks. That can save people from dying. We don’t need cricket, heroes, and entertainment at the moment. We want to save lives in India and Pakistan. I’m using these strong words because human lives are at stake.”
Dale Steyn vs Aashish Chandorkar
Dale Steyn brutally trolled a fan on Twitter with this whole IPL fiasco. The South African bowler slew at a fan who had seemingly made fun of the Pakistan Super League PSL. PSL also couldn’t conduct the tournament successfully earlier this year.
The tweet from Aashish Chandorkar reads,
To which Dale replied, “Haha you’re funny.” And that was not all, he replied to the same thread after the IPL got postponed with a “hi” and an emoji with a mask on. OUCH!
He also replied to a fan with good fate and a positive message,
Franchises ask to move PSL 2021 to UAE for remaining matches
In recent developments, Pakistan Super League franchises also ask PSL to move to UAE for the remaining matches. Since there is a wide surge in the Covid-19 cases along with a lockdown. The idea to move the entire team with failed testing procedures for the virus is not a great idea.
PSL 2021 was suspended after 14 matches played between February 20 till March 3, 2021 in Karachi.

On this Day: Pakistan made unforgettable history in World Cup 1992
With a huge crowd of 87, 182 people at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The last few minutes of the World Cup 1992 were crucial. People at both Pakistan and at the stadium in those moments were profusely sweating and mouths were mumbling all kinds of prayers. And with smart captaincy and brilliant team play, Pakistan won the 1992 World Cup. Making history for the rest of our lives!
Get ready for the goosebumps!
Cricket has always been a source of zeal and pomp for every Pakistani. All of the Desi families practically grew up with Pakistani national songs and watching cricket. Boys playing street cricket and chasing their passions is all we have.
World Cup 1992 Pakistan
Pakistan’s legendary former fast-bowler Wasim Akram and former batsman Ramiz Raja who were the major part of the country’s World Cup win shared their experiences. They both talked about how nerve-wracking the whole experience was and how a historic the World Cup win was for both of them.
Wasim Akram shared his gratitude on social media, he wrote on Twitter “Today I’m not only celebrating a very important day of my career but one of the most memorable days for Pakistan.”
Sharing the experiences
Ramiz Raja revealed that Pakistan had a miserable start when they arrived in Australia for the World Cup tournament. What kept the team going were the brilliant leadership and the driven motive to achieving the glory.
“There seemed to be a selection process when we first got to Australia because we were the first team to show up. Our captain wanted us to acclimatise to the conditions and we took several extra players. We were losing to mediocre teams there and our confidence was low. We were trying out different combinations. Then we suddenly played West Indies and lost badly. We kept losing but one thing we had was the quality leadership of Imran Khan which kept us engaged,” shared Raja.
Wasim Akram on this account stated that Pakistan held on to hope even after defeats in the initial stages of the tournament.
“We even lost a game against an over-40 team. Our condition was really bad. Imran Khan still gave us confidence that we would win. We peaked at the right time and defeated one of the favorite teams of the tournament New Zealand. We had faith that we could beat them,” said Akram. “Once we started winning, we knew that we would keep the momentum going. Ramiz in the end took the final catch which was a great moment.”
The team work for World Cup 1992
The Pakistani team took part in World Cup without some of its important players like Waqar Younis and Saeed Anwar and the captain Imran Khan was also injured during the tournament. The team was not among the favorites throughout the tournament. Moreover the team did not perform very well in start as it lost three of their first five matches.
Even the most favourite team England lost the Cup to the champions of the age! The team work and the ambitions were strong enough to give them the victory they deserved!
Stand up for the champions!
