Movies like Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De Basanti, Lunch Box, Wake Up Sid are not just movies, they simply become the essence of your soul. One of these movies completes a decade today in the industry, and that movie is Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara!
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Produced by Farhan Akhter and Ritesh Sidhwani and directed by Zoya Akhter, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a comedy-drama movie. It features an ensemble cast that includes Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, and Kalki Koechlin. The movie was partly filmed in India and mostly in Spain, United Kingdom, and Egypt. Shankar Ehsaan Loy provided the background score along with the lyrics of the magnificent Javed Akhtar.
ZNMD – Storyline
The film’s story follows three childhood companions, Arjun, Kabir, and Imran, who rejoin for a three-week road trip after a long span of distance among them. They set out to Spain and meet Laila, who falls head over heels for Arjun and helps him overcome his compulsion to work. Kabir and his life partner Natasha experience critical mistaken assumptions, while Imran wishes to meet his biological dad, an artist Salman Habib. During their trip, each picks a challenging, scary, and equally dangerous game for the group to participate in order to take the fear out of the other.
Life Lessons from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
In this busy and tech-savvy world no one really has time for anything. We are obsessed with professional life in order to achieve something good for our lives. Along with all of it, we tend to forget life itself. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara gives us some lessons to learn that we can still live the way it should be!
Your Friendship remains the same
You cannot decide your family; however, you can decide your friends! Your friends are the gems in your life which you chose by yourself. And no matter wherever you go, they will know you and will have your back. They might make fun of you or pull your leg, but at the end of the day, they will be there when you need someone the most!

You can find love in the most unrelatable circumstances
Sometimes when you go out to find love, it might not reach you. But that will happen and in the most unexpected ways. The beauty of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was that it resonated with reality. It spoke volumes with its dialogues. The part where Laila and Arjun realize their love for each other was magical and shows how unexpected things can happen, yet how wonderfully!

Forgiveness is important
The movie gives out the beautiful message of forgiveness that how during the most uncertain and angriest of the moments, forgiving settles everything down eventually. Instead of just filling yourself with negativity, you can let go and enjoy!

Money is not everything
Even though the movie’s whole Spain trip revolved around having the aspect of money, the movie still gives a good message here. That even having all the wealth you can’t guarantee happiness. Arjun overworked his entire life to achieve excellence; however, his heart has a void that he couldn’t fill and was eventually filled by friendship!

While the Kaabil star named that specific scene as his favorite, Kaif said that she was terrified!
Furthermore, the group also giggled over the song ‘Ik Junoon,’ where they all danced at the Tomatina festival. Roshan reminisces, “I didn’t have tomatoes for three or four months. None of us could endure the tolerate the presence of tomatoes after that song. The sort of smell that we suffered!”
Well, since we did not have to smell the music video, we enjoyed it to our core!
Will there be a ZNMD sequel?
The actor revealed that the possibility of a sequel is always there. He said, “be it in 5 years or 15 years, that doesn’t matter. In fact, that would be really cool!”
But he also added that “But I don’t think Zoya is the kind who would want to make it, just because people want it. She has to stumble upon an instinctive, inspired thought about the sequel that would then fuel her mind to take those steps into building it into a script.” Furthermore, he said, “The potential does exist as the film is about life and friends — some very interesting things could happen. The more time we spend away from these characters… them coming back after years, it would be interesting to revisit their journeys.”

Thursday Tunes: A new wave of classical fusion with Aam Taateel
Underground band culture is prevalent nowadays, especially in Pakistan. We now see good bands emerging from different platforms, there is no denying it. Music speaks volumes. There used to be a solid band culture in the 80s in Pakistan which faded with time and now this revival is a ray of hope. In these emerging bands like Bayaan, Auj, Takatak, and Kashmir who are working on different genres and creating quality music, some bands are still flying solo under the radar that includes our today’s pick, Aam Taateel.
The band was introduced to us during lunch hours when the water cooler gossip shifted towards poetry and then towards ‘Chaaraasaazi’ and then we listened to the band for the first time and binged on to it and discovered Aam Taateel in literal words!
Aam Taateel
Hailing from Karachi Pakistan, Aam Taateel is a local underground band. The band members include Ali Hassan (Vocals), Usman Sheikh (Drums, vocals, and rhythm guitars), Sohaib Ali Khan (Keys), Ahad Husain (Lead and rhythm guitars), and, Ather Ahmad (Bass). The band fuses Eastern Classical music with Western instruments that create a vibrant and more unique kick to their music. Aam Taateel band’s vision is to blend present contemporary Urdu Literature with post-modern music.
While ‘Postmodernism’ is the most misconceived and misinterpreted term in our society. We are witnessing Aam Taateel creating a revolution in it through their music. Moreover, creating a fair understanding of the ‘mushkil shayiri’ for the Urdu readers.
Yaaro
Written by Peerzada Salman – a prominent Journalist and a poet – Yaaro is a ghazal that tells a tale of different existential dilemmas that we experience as a human. The fear of death, happiness, the search for one’s true self are some of the realities that this ghazal addresses. Usman Sheikh owned the ghazal’s poetry and made it shine through their album ‘Khudsar.’

The music video is an unmistakable visual treat. It is haunting, yet beautiful. The ghazal starts slowly reflecting on the lives of people who are leading completely different lives and battling to live with a blend of emotions. The song gradually proceeds to the climax as agitation goes for a human. The genius selection of poetry amalgamated with the arrangement and instrumentation. The bass guitar solo in particular won our hearts.
Watch the music video below,
Aam Taateel’s Khudsar album also features Jaun Elia’s poetry including Woh Tabiyat, Bohat Dil ko Kushada, Beqarari, and Aakhri Baar. Furthermore, it also includes poetries of Waheed Noor, Rajinder Krishan, and Yasra Rizvi.

Women Empower Wednesday: The Courageous Tabassum Adnan
Swat valley has strict values, sometimes maybe pessimistic, but KPK still created the finest gems of Pakistan and Tabassum Adnan is another gem for the country because of her sheer resilience. After Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner, Tabassum Adnan another Swat valley woman was among the 10 extraordinary women from 10 countries whose courage is defying the odds.
Tabassum Adnan
Hailing from Swat valley Pakistan Tabassum Adnan was born in 1977, who challenged Pakistan’s formerly Taliban-controlled city. Tabassum Adnan is a remarkable woman doing remarkable things. She is perceived as one of the rare individuals in Pakistan to stand up against patriarchy and make dynamic strides towards protecting women’s rights. Tabassum set up the first women-only Jirga.
Leaving an abusive marriage
Growing up in a society where women get married at a very young age. Tabassum’s fate was the same as the rest. She became a child bride at 13, then a mother of four children, and a victim of domestic violence. Tabassum gathered the courage to leave that abusive marriage after 20 years.
A no-fearing brave soul
Like many women, she found herself alone and homeless without any support. Despite the risks of being killed in the name of honor or being accused of having an affair, Adnan was determined to fight for herself.

Adnan then ends up finding a local aid group that inspired her to improve her abilities in decision-making processes. Initially, she approached the male-only, main Swat Qaumi Aman Jirga, but was rejected. Jirgas are traditional informal judicial councils that enforce qisas and retribution laws. Though they don’t intend to replace formal judicial systems or police procedures. Decisions of the elders are socially respected and do often impact the judiciary.

First women Jirga by Tabassum Adnan against Domestic violence
In May 2013, Tabassum began her own Jirga (The Khwendo Jirga, or Sister’s Council), the first run by ladies in the country. Generally, ladies in the district have been utilized as property to resolve debates of men, exchanged union with vindicating obligations, cases of honor, and requital for violations. Since women have little force, Adnan perceived that her gathering would have to constrain specialists to act. Her 25-member all-female jirga pressures police and the conventional court framework to act while giving legitimate help to the people in question.
The 2014 rape case law evaluation
In 2014 an occasion occurred, which changed the public impression of Tabassum Adnan’s group. A child was raped and the specialists neglected to act. Khwendo Jirga coordinated a protest. The suspects were apprehended and for the first time in Pashtun history, a woman, Adnan, was asked to sit on the male jirga and assist with dispensing justice in the case.
Since the protest, these women have re-established their place stronger than ever. In July 2014, Adnan and Khwendo Jirga campaigned for the section of a law including Child Marriages. Notwithstanding solid disagreement from strict religious variables, the Sindh Assembly passed a prohibition law on forced marriages for anyone under the age of 18, and in December 2014 the Punjab Assembly collectively passed a bill to amend the current law.
Tabassum Adnan achievements
In 2013, Tabassum Adnan was awarded the Human Defenders Award. In 2014 she was a nominee for the N-Peace Empowerment Award, and in 2015. Moreover, she won a U.S. State Department International Women of Courage Award. Furthermore, she has won the Nelson Mandela Award 2016.
Tabassum’s own life story is heartwrenching but her courage is exemplary! She is no doubt the definition of a courageous woman! More power to you!

Youngest Pakistani mountaineer to summit Everest Shehroze Kashif is now all set to scale K2
Youngest Pakistani mountaineer to summit Everest
The 19-year-old youngest Pakistani mountaineer Shehroze Kashif who became the youngest Pakistani mountaineer to reach the summit of Mount Everest — 8,848.86 meters is all ready to scale up to the heights of Godwin Austin K2.
In an update on Facebook, Nepalese mountaineer and the expedition manager of Seven Summit Treks, Chhang Dawa Sherpa, congratulated Kashif for becoming the youngest Pakistani to climb Mount Everest. “This morning Kashif successfully climbed the Mt. Everest as a part of Seven Summit Treks Everest Expedition 2021,” he wrote.
Hailing from Lahore, Shehroze Kashif’s first trip was at 11 years old when he journeyed to the 3,885m Makra Peak, trailed by Musa Ka Musalla, a 4,080m pinnacle.
Proceeding to prepare for more and harder journeys, he did the Gondogor La K2 Base Camp trip at 14 years old and at 15 had the option to finish the Khurdo Pin Pass (5,800m) journey. At 18, he did Khusar Gang, a 6,050m pinnacle Alpine style.
Alpine vs Expedition
Alpine style means no supplementary oxygen, light packing, zero reliance on fixed ropes and high-altitude porters/Sherpas, and moving fast. This makes a climb over 6,000m riskier as the altitude increases. Whereas, Expedition style depends on fixed ropes set along the climbing routes by Sherpas/HAPs and the use of bottled oxygen.
Shehroze Kashif journeys toward K2
Talking with a new media outlet via telephone from Skardu, Kashif shared his excitement, “This is a 30-day campaign to perhaps the most troublesome mountains in the world. I’m the only Pakistani in a group of around five individuals going on this excursion with Summit Karakoram (a traveler organization) and a Nepalese coordinator. God willing, if successful I’ll become the youngest climber in the world to summit K2.”
Currently, Shehroze has reached Urdukus point, from where he will trek up to Goro 2 and then towards Concordia that will lead up to the K2 Basecamp. It usually takes 8-9 walking days to get to the K2 base camp from Askole. K2 base camp trek distance is 90 Kilometres from Askoli, the last village of Shigar Valley. Askole is reachable by Jeep from Skardu, it is 8 Hours Drive and distance is 126 Kilometres.
The year 2021 started off with Ali Sadpara’s winter expedition towards summiting K2. After celebrating his 45th birthday on the 2nd February 2021, Ali Sadpara left K2 Base Camp with John Snorri, Juan Pablo, and Sajid Sadpara. And never returned.
Reports then came that Sadpara, along with Snorri and Prieto, successfully summited K2, and had gone missing. Furthermore, they lost contact with the base camp late on Friday and were reported missing after their support team stopped receiving reports from them during their ascent of the 8,611m-high K2.

Thursday Tunes: Nawazish by Auj band is infused with suffering and villainous charm
Finally, after a long break, the boy band culture is reviving in Pakistan. We see quality musicians and bands forming and creating great music altogether, depicting a soft image of Pakistan. And that’s not all, these bands are reaching neighboring countries too and getting a massive appraisal from them too. Auj is one of them. The band was the winner of Pepsi Battle of Bands season 4 and it is completely justified. The rock-metal-inspired band with a different classical touch to the vocals sets this band to another level.
Auj the band
Started around 2008-2009, the band was a little different. It was named ‘Shabi’ – Parchaayi and the band members were different too. Started off as a cover rock/metal-inspired band they focused on bands like Black Sabbath, Metallica. The band after searching for the perfect vocalist became ‘Auj.’ Auj means ‘The epitome of height,’ also the limit of every feeling! Eventually ‘Lafz’ came into being becoming their first original song.

Auj band members
The band members include Abdul Rehman Sajid, (vocalist) Nasir Zaka, (Guitars, Backing vocals) Syed Hasnain Ali, (Bass guitars) and Muhammad Kashif. (Drums) The harmony of the band came perfectly that they decided to compete in BoB and even won the whole thing!
Auj’s different style of music makes them unique. We hardly see any band from Pakistan with a classic rock soul like them. The band started focusing on making their own music and setting their mark after winning the Battle of Bands and now they have dropped a single Nawazish, featuring Anoushay Abbasi in the video.

Nawazish by Auj
‘Nawazish’ explores the idea of affection and disdain, and the sentiments and traumas it acquires in our lives and emotional connections. The melody is a saddening story of misfortune and victimization depicted flawlessly in a delicate rock melodic infusion by the band. Abdul Rehman’s voice added weight to the classical side of the emotion. The whole vibe is set by the percussions and the strong bass by Hasnain. Furthermore, the guitar solo in particular kicks the whole villainous mood to another level. The video features a gothic Anoushay, who plays the villain and inflicts all the damage with a malevolent grin, while her victims are devastated by her wicked charms. The music video is directed by Jalal. Whereas, Ijlal Azam magnificently proves his skills as a cinematographer.

Listen to the whole song here,
The music video is beautifully directed and gorgeously amalgamates with the theme of the song. Meanwhile, the lyrics do the magic the whole band creates perfect euphony!
