I did not sell the song Sayonee - Salman Ahmad

I did not sell the song Sayonee – Salman Ahmad

The recent Arijit Singh’s version of the super hit ‘Sayonee’ created quite the controversy over social media for the past couple of weeks.

The new Sayonee was not quite well received from the original fans and followers, and that is true, because original Sayonee is a masterpiece for generations to listen to!

For the current uprising over social media Salman Ahmad talked about how when someone ‘redo’ something, the original outshines. It remains the same. He also made it clear that he did not sell the masterpiece. He just gave the license of Sayonee. And that too is allowed in the music world, from one musician to another.

He shared that “if we hadn’t introduced the Pakistani musical culture in our youth back in the days, we would not have “Dil Dil Pakistan” or “Jazbaa Junoon” as global musical mantras.”

“It’s a recognition for us and a moment to be proud of that Pakistani talent is unmatchable,” He added.

According to the bassist of Shamoon Ismail, Shoaib Lari, he said “We were already six tracks into the performance when we were told that we have been asked to stop the show. The officials from the commissioner’s office had arrived at the venue and weren’t too pleased with how the audience was following the Covid-19 SOPs. We were told that due to the violation of SOPs, we have to end the concert. That is when the management told us to cut it off.”

Lari added that the show went on for a couple of hours. “We got on stage around 8:15, after the DJ was done with his gig. Around 9pm, we were asked to get off of the stage and leave the premises as well. There were police, and all we could hear was ‘band karain ji, isay band karain.‘ So, we had no other choice but to end the night.”

he Teasers of Aulaad Will Definitely Make You Emotional!

The Teasers of Aulaad Will Definitely Make You Emotional!

Not all Pakistani dramas have the tendency to make you teary, but when a story is closer to real-life events it automatically punches you down with an emotional feel to it. Pakistani dramas though nowadays are not creating an “up-to-the-mark” kind of stories for their dramas, but some of the writers are penning down stories that can make you cry.

ARY dramas have often generated buzz due to their convincing storylines and stellar cast with magnetic chemistry. However, this year 2020 has collectively placed a lot of pressure on writers and directors to produce unique content that will have viewers invested for weeks.

One of these stories is the upcoming family-oriented drama serial “Aulaad.” The drama is written by Syed Ameer Ali Shah and directed by the magnificent Aabis Raza under the Fahad Mustafa and Dr. Ali Kazmi Production (Big Bang Entertainment). The cast includes Muhammad Ahmad and Marina Khan in leading roles along with Sunita Marshall, Minsa Malik, Hasan Niazi, Furqan Sheikh, Nabeel Zuberi, Mah-e-Noor, Hina Javed, and others.

Four teasers have been released up till now and every trailer reflects something about the characters and it seems to be having a sad family story, which signifies the importance of relationships. As the name suggests the story revolves around “Aulaad.” Jalal (Muhammad Ahmed) and Zakia (Marina Khan) have 5 children, 3 sons Khurram (Hassan Niazi), Adnan (Furqan Qureshi), Bilal (Nabeel Zuberi),2 daughters Mooni (Qudsia) and Rooshna (Minsa Malik).

Jalal seems to be having troubles with their sons after he gets retired and the family faces a financial crunch, as it emerges in the background that, “Jo betay houte haina yeh maa baap ke liye bohat bari taaqat houtey hain aur yehi betay maa baap ke liye sabse bari kamzori houte hain.” The OST “Jhoola” is sung by Rahim Shah and it adds an emotional feel to all the collective trailers. One of their daughters Mooni is mentally impaired and while there is still a mystery in the story there is a feeling that she dies due to extreme ignorance by her brothers.

The teasers also give out a narrative that parents should not expect anything from their children when they become adults, as whatever parents provide to them throughout their lives, parents will still become a burden when they grow old or get retired!

As every child is sharing his share to the household and it is still not enough, Rooshna’s wedding becomes an issue of conflict among the family due to not having enough money.

Mooni has been shown to have serious mental issues and this has become another source of conflict as the parents love her a lot and the children blame them to have made her this way. “Maa baap hain, apka farz tha yeh sab karna, sab karte hain” are a trail of heartbreaking sentences that moved the audience even more.

Listen to the OST below

This serial also aims to educate those people who only give importance to their sons. The dialogues and the role portrayal from all the actors look strong by the initial hints of the teasers, and we really hope that this drama outshines the rest with its unique storyline and amazing performances.

The drama serial Aulaad will air every Tuesday, 8:00 pm, on ARY Digital.

Friday Flix Movie Review: 12 Angry Men

Friday Flix Movie Review: 12 Angry Men

People have been arguing that millennials don’t care about old classic movies. Maybe that’s true, or maybe it isn’t, everyone has their own taste when it comes to movies or TV series. But the fact remains that many people disregard classic cinema on principle. These people are actually missing out, because it only takes one film — the right film — to change their minds and alter their viewing habits altogether. And that right movie is “12 ANGRY MEN”

Cast and Crew

The movie stars… well 12 men as the name suggested with Martin Henry Balsam, John Donald Fiedler, Lee J. Cobb, E. G. Marshall, Jack Klugman, Edward Binns, Jack Warden, Henry Fonda, Joseph Sweeney, Ed Begley, George Voskovec, and Robert Webber.

The cast also includes Rudy Bond (Judge), Tom Gormon as the Sternographer, James Kelly, Billy Nelson, John Savoca and Walter Socker. The movie is directed by Sidney Lumet, Produced by Henry Fonda (The juror in the movie) and Reginald Rose, who is also the writer of the story.

Plot

Sidney Lumet’s 1957 courtroom drama follows 12, white, middle-aged, middle-class men as they deliberate on a seemingly open-and-shut murder case. Set almost entirely in a very small rather claustrophobic room of the overheated jury room of the New York County Courthouse, a jury prepares to deliberate the case of an 18-year-old Puerto Rican impoverished young man accused of stabbing his father to death. The judge instructs them that if there is any reasonable doubt, the jurors are to return a verdict of not guilty; if found guilty, the defendant will receive a death sentence. The film dives into the 12 men’s, and by extension society’s, deep-rooted prejudices, biases, fears and differences as they struggle to come to a unanimous decision/verdict.

The film dazzles the crowd from the start. Every one of the twelve jurors is acquainted with us as they are acquainted with themselves. The characters are well drawn out as individuals, each sparkling in his own character. The storyline gives out a meticulous summation of an Agatha Christie thriller.

From the start, the proof appears to be persuading, the neighbors affirm the respondent stab his dad from her window, and other affirmed that he heard the defendant threatening to murder his dad and the dad’s body hitting the ground, and afterward, through his peephole, saw him run past his entryway. The kid had brutal past and had also bought a switchblade. That was found at the murder site. But the defendant asserted that he has lost that blade. The knife was also found at the scene had been cleaned of fingerprints.

The tensity of the characters snare the crowd in from the starting. All through the film it was felt that the case is open and shut, 11 juror saying liable and 1 not. The distress of Henry Fonda as other members of the jury taunts him that how he can even observe anything sensible for this situation.

However, it was felt the excitement as he continues to disprove or add uncertainty to the contentions for liable and become spellbound and began to see doubts as different jury members.

The film additionally shows the contentions for guilty and wonder if Juror Fonda is right with his doubts. However they additionally feel the disgrace of the characters as he falsify that a formerly sound theory is iron-tight, joining his side as individuals from the jury do.

One of the most noticeable components of the film is magnificently woven in misguided judgments as a human that impact individuals, and turns into the reason of tension between the characters. This was incredibly depicted by the actors. The performances by Fonda, Lee J Cobb and Joseph Sweeney were moving and outstanding.

The concept of misconceptions

For a movie based upon courtroom around a murder trial, the film has no action at all. The contentions play around confusions and the idea of justice which throughout looked extremely simple yet with one vote changed things around. The entire film felt grasping. One of the most complimenting parts of 12 Angry Men is the cinematography. The vast majority of the film’s part was taken shots at eye-level with no charm into it, gives a fantasy of situations getting developed progressively, making a feeling of distress, not with the film, but rather with how the final decision will go!

This movie is your definite watch for this weekend!

Netflix however did start the production since Season 3, and also dropped its smashing 4th season, followed by season 5th on August 21, 2020. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic. But to add with the shocks and excitement the show ended on a cliff-hanger leading to part 2, which is nowhere to be seen as of right now.

Women Empower Wednesday: Pride Of Pakistan Nargis Hameedullah

“The world needs strong women. Women who will lift and build others, who will love and be loved, women who live bravely, both tender and fierce, women of indomitable will.” – Amy Tenney

Women all around the world are making marks, setting benchmarks, and moving mountains with resilience, unmatchable. Be it politics, policy making, sports, research, engineering, public health, etcetera. Although being challenged from the society on every step –as little as possible – they are proving their mettle and making sure to shine as bright as ever! From the first woman, and the first Black and South Asian Vice President USA, Kamala Harris to the first woman to climb Mount Everest Junko Tabei. Women are glorifying, challenging news hurdles each day and motivating other women EVERYWHERE!

A 21 year old girl Karateka from Hazara, Quetta – a part of Pakistan which might not very well-known or recognized around the world – with passions to make a huge difference not just in Pakistan, but around the globe. From overcoming security threats, and ethnic persecution, let’s meet the Asian Games Bronze Medal awarded Nargis Hameedullah!

Nargis Hameedullah – The Karateka

Nargis Hameedullah belongs to Hazara, Quetta. A part of Pakistan where women playing sports of any kind, let alone Karate may raise eyebrows in the society. One of Pakistan’s most persecuted ethnic and religious minorities. But that has not stopped her from beating the odds.

In 2018, Asian Games, Nargis defeated Nepal’s Karki Rita 3-1 in the match played for Bronze medals on 25 August 2018. Nargis, also won bronze medal in over sixty-eight kilograms category competition. She won a gold medal in the South Asian Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2017. She is also part of Pakistan Female Karate Association. She teaches karate to girls at a Quetta club and says “through karate, girls can defend themselves”.

Getting into tough sports like “Karate,” in an age of just 5 years old, was a follow-up to the footsteps of her own father. She began ‘Martial Arts training’ when she was just 5 years old. Her father was a well respected Karateka himself, that’s what motivated him to make her daughter follow his footsteps. She got her initial training from “Mixed Martial Arts.” The institute has taekwondo, karate and wushu all together. Inspired by the another renowned male Karateka Ghulam Ali Hazara, she became motivated on his achievements as a three-times Karate Champion in South Asian Games, she then to pick Karate for herself during her training.

Karate training in general has three parts or sections, Kihon, Kata and Kumite. And to add in Nargis’s luck she gets to be trained under her Karate Idol Ghulam Ali Hazara. She got her Kata’s training from Ghulam Ali, while the trainer Saadi Abbas prepared her for Kumite.

The trainings for these championships are not easy at all. The training sessions get real aggressive and during rigorous trainings and gym sessions. Injuries take an evident part. But Nargis never let this come in front of her training as a hurdle… She rather took it as a challenge and went through all! As she herself says “An aim makes you go through your entire hurdle!”

Feminism and Women Empowerment

Nargis Hameedullah, also strongly believes in women empowerment. According to her it is a great deal. She realizes that there are a lot of challenges for women in this society, and a place where she lives, and the community she belongs to, it becomes very hard for her to continue her training sometimes. And societal pressures do act as the biggest hurdle. She has a firm belief that every girl has the right to follow her own dream and she also believes that family support for a girl should always be the top most priority.

Also Read: FEMINISM IS ITSELF A REPRESENTATION – NATASHA BAIG

She addresses this on many events and occasions and she gives credit to her mother and also her father, who knows that giving her the chance, will be leading their community one step closer to betterment. She also believes that “Every woman is different and amazing in her own way, she just needs recognition!”

Women should never feel subservient because of her gender; they have the potential no one can match. Never losing the confidence is a key. There is nothing that can stop a woman from achieving her dream. Whether you study or you play. Just stay put and ever stop believing in yourself!
