Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Getting A Divorce?

Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Getting A Divorce?

We have been seeing strong celebrity couples staying together and after a long happy marriage then them splitting up. Sometimes the span is also surprisingly short as well. There was Nicolas Cage’s infamous four-day marriage, and Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen’s eight-month union. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s divorce after meeting in 2006 on sets of Step Up, getting married in 2009, and surprisingly getting a divorce after 9 years of marriage. Usher and Grace Miguel dated for 10 years and got divorced only after two and a half years of marriage. Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor fell in love fast on the sets in 1999 and married the same year. After 17 years the couple sadly announced their divorce. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin divorced each other after 10 years of marriage with 2 children due to distance and tough work schedules. Last but not least The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting getting a divorce after 21 months of marriage as Ryan became addicted to prescribed painkillers.

With all these sad divorces, another one is making headlines now. And that too is of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. After almost a decade of being together, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s marriage may be coming to an end anytime soon.

Multiple sources confirmed that the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star is preparing to file for divorce from her rapper husband, whom she married in May 2014.

Kim Kardashian

Kimberly Noel Kardashian West is known as an American media personality, socialite, model, businesswoman, and entertainer. Kardashian picked up media attention as a friend and beautician/stylist of Paris Hilton and her appearance in the E! Reality show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” alongside her family. Kardashian has developed an online and social media presence, including hundreds of millions of followers on Twitter and Instagram. Her relationship with rapper Kanye West has likewise gotten huge media inclusion; the couple wedded in 2014 and have four children together. In recent years, Kardashian has focused on her own businesses by founding KKW Beauty and KKW fragrance in 2017.  In 2019, she launched Skims which was previously called Kimono but the name was changed due to immediate kickback. Time magazine included Kardashian for their rundown of 2015’s 100 most influential people. Both critics and admirers have depicted her as representing the idea of being celebrated for being acclaimed. She was accounted for to be the most generously paid reality show star of 2015, with her assessed complete income surpassing US$53 million.

The Divorce Buzz!

Multiple sources concluded that their divorce filing “is imminent.” “They are keeping it low-key but they are done,” one source said. “Kim has hired [top celebrity divorce attorney] Laura Wasser and they are in settlement talks.”

“He knows that she’s done. She has had enough, and she told him that she wants some space to figure out her future,” a source shared with PEOPLE, adding that West, 43, is bracing filing but does not know when. Fans were left wondering what came as the last straw for the pair, which was once hailed as one of the strongest power-couples of Hollywood.

The Calabasas Home

Another rumor popped the separation is because of their Calabasas home, Celebrity reports sources further says that the two paid $40million for the house and then dropped another whopping $20 million for the renovations. Kim is trying to get Kanye to turn over the Calabasas house to her because that’s where the kids are based and growing up. That is their home. And also that Kim owns all the land and adjoining lots around the house but Kanye owns the actual house. They’ve both put a lot of money into renovating it. The insider further told that this isn’t the first time they’ve been talking about a split, but this time it is way, way more serious. Kim also hasn’t been seen wearing her wedding ring for a while now, and Kanye remained at his $14 million Wyoming ranch over the holidays instead of spending it with the Kardashian family, who drew criticism for their extravagant celebrations. Kim has done much in the past to protect and help Kanye deal with his mental health struggles. The divorce is probably happening because Kim has grown up a lot.

The Kimye Twitter Drama

In June 2020, during the clash of Kimye on Twitter, the couple was mad-cap crazy against each other and Kanye dealing with anxiety and then apologize later for his spiraling publicly for his wife, she flew to Wyoming to meet Kanye and broke loose in the car having a meltdown. Kim was very emotional about everything and also exhausted. According to citing, they said that she felt very hurt by Kanye. She has tried to reach him multiple times and he just ignored her. It’s all a bad situation. She decided to fly to Cody to speak with him in person. She doesn’t want to be ignored anymore.

One source cited bluntly, “She is serious about taking the bar exam and becoming a lawyer, she is serious about her prison reform campaign. Meanwhile, Kanye is talking about running for president and saying other crazy s–t, and she’s just had enough of it.”

Well, this feels like a lot, even for the fans to read, let alone the couple to have faced. We really hope they sort this out peacefully and be powerful again.

Women Empower Wednesday: The kind gem of Pakistan Bilquis Edhi

The concept of kindness is getting weaker every day in this modern world. As the world started evolving, with globalization, everyone thinks about their own selves, their being, their desires, and their struggles. Without realizing that there are plenty out there who need a kind and gentle hand towards life. And deserve a chance. We always hear “Kindness is a Virtue.” But we never really understood what it means; it means the showing of love in different ways, the qualities of having sympathetic, affectionate, warm-hearted, and considerate nature. Kindness softens your hearts; it lifts your spirits and mends relationships. And it begins at heart because kindness is certainly a part of the nature of GOD! It is not a duty towards the fellowship; it is an expression that is rooted within you.

At the point when you put some benevolence into the world, you’ll like what the world offers in return. Pakistan is blessed to have a gem. That has made kindness not only a virtue like a prayer, but also a duty. And a promise to help other people the moment she gained consciousness! She is none other than The Mother of Pakistan, Bilquis Edhi!

Bilquis Edhi

Born on 14th August 1947 Bantva, British India, Bilquis Bano Edhi is a professional nurse, the wife of Abdul Sattar Edhi (Late), and one of the most active philanthropists in Pakistan. She is known as the Mother of Pakistan and she actively heads the Bilquis Edhi Foundation.

Bilquis Edhi

Early Life

As a young person, Bilquis didn’t appreciate school a lot. She figured out how to join a little growing dispensary as an attendant Nurse in 1965. At the time the Edhi home was in the old city region of Karachi known as Mithadar. Where it had been established in 1951. The place had a modest number of Christian and Hindu medical nurses who worked there. They recently got decreased in number. The founder, Abdul Sattar Edhi, enrolled various medical nurses including Bilquis who, surprisingly, was from a Muslim background. Edhi proposed to Bilquis after recognizing her talents and allowing her to lead the small nursing department. He had recognized her enthusiasm and interest during her six-month training program where she had learned basic midwifery and healthcare.

They were married when she was seventeen and her husband was nearly twenty years old. They spent their post-wedding time as newlyweds while discovering a young girl with head injuries at their dispensary. Bilquis Edhi also shared in 1989 that she did not regret the time lost in consoling the twelve-year-old’s concerned relatives. The foundation is based on the slogan of “Making a difference and changing lives forever.”

The Jhoola Project

It is true, as the saying goes: “There is a woman behind every man”. Bilquis Edhi is a woman of substance, for sure; and she has come a long way with Edhi for a cause that is simply noble! Bilquis Edhi took control over the administration of the “Jhoolas project.” Edhi established it in 1952. These 300 jhoolas are accessible all through Pakistan where Parents can abandon their undesirable babies. They convey the message “Do not kill, leave the baby to live in the cradle” in both English and Urdu. A little minority of abandoned babies are disabled yet over 90% are females.

The Edhi Foundation doesn’t accept any funds from the Government. And solely work with the help of the donations made by the people.

Bilquis Edhi says, “We never spread our hands, even if donations are low. We have faith in Allah and we keep working.” Her distinctive and significant involvement with the Edhi Foundation was while during the war; the bombings brought about various severely disfigured bodies that she needed to wash for burial. At times just an arm, leg, or head was recuperated. She, alongside around 60-70 laborers including volunteers, gathered and afterward washed those bodies.

Aulaad Review Episode 2 and 3: The Emotional Saga!

Aulaad Review Episode 2 and 3: The Emotional Saga!

So we decided to review the second and third episode together because I needed some time to absorb the whole sobbing behind me, when I was actually wrong, the 3rd episode broke me down and at moments I was so hooked that I couldn’t stop tearing. Let’s jump directly into the two episodes combined.

Those of you who don’t know about the family-oriented drama serial, “Aulaad.” Let me give you a quick cast introduction. The drama is written by Syed Ameer Ali Shah and directed by the magnificent Aabis Raza under the Fahad Mustafa and Dr. Ali Kazmi Production (Big Bang Entertainment). The cast includes Muhammad Ahmad and Marina Khan in leading roles along with Sunita Marshall, Minsa Malik, Hasan Niazi, Furqan Sheikh, Nabeel Zuberi, Mah-e-Noor, Hina Javed, and others.

Plot

The drama touches the reality of the relationship, as I mentioned in my earlier review. It also touches the most brutal parts of them that how can children turn their backs when the parents grow old.

Strength and Weaknesses

We left off with how Jalal (Muhammad Ahmed) asked Khurram (Hassan Niazi) and Afreen (Sunita Marshal) to leave the house after the big fight? It ended up with that emotional scene. And it continued with that, how difficult it is for Zakia (Marina Khan) to accept the fact that her first-born Khurram is leaving as she always wanted their kids to stay together, but the situation says otherwise. She spends the whole night tossing and turning with the thought and though they won’t leave and this will just be something that happened the other night and everything will be normal by the morning. But that was not the case.

Her strength her son has actually decided to leave her and his family. Afreen (Sunita Marshall) on the other hand tried to explain the severity of the situation and ask him not to take this rash decision for the sake of his own family. To which, Khurram (Hassan Niazi) asked her to stay out of this and told her to not go otherwise to keep their relationship sound.

In Jalal’s (Muhammad Ahmed) mind everything was numb but he was angry. Considering the fact that he told his son to go off. He still has a slight ray that Khurram (Hassan Niazi) won’t leave the house and everything will be fine. He goes to the university the other day early and that leaves Afreen (Sunita Marshall) sad, that over the years it never happened that Jalal goes to work without having breakfast.

During his conversation with a colleague, Jalal, and his friends discuss how hard family culture is now in this era. His friend makes him realize that “Waaldein to apne bachon se mohabbat karte hain, but hamare ajkal ke bachay apne bachon se mohabbat karte hain aur unke mustakbil ke baray mein sochte hain.” He makes him realize that things have changed and no matter how we want them to stay they would still want to be with their families.

To add to Jalal’s stress, his dean from the office presents his retirement letter to him which comes as a shock to him considering how big of a financial crunch they would be facing after Khurram’s departure from home and this retirement will eventually be more of a problem.

Jalal comes back home and Zakia (Marina Khan) was already trying to stop Afreen, kids, and Khurram, who has already made his decision and found an apartment to be shifted on rent. The fight increased and Jalal overhears some of the most brutal sentences from Khurram [which were expected] and Jalal ended up making a decision to break all the ties from them.

Muhammad Ahmed’s Marvellous Acting

Well talking about the particular scene, after that everything was just so powerful! This is the very first time I have seen this side of Muhammad Ahmed, being extremely angry as a father. Because we all agree with how sweet he has been on-screen as a father. To me, this scene was 10/10. The dialogues, the emotions, the delivery was simply amazing! The lines “Mera beta mujhay matlab parasti ka certificate dey raha hai” was the gist of this whole scene. MAJOR SOB-FEST! He also discloses how he is now retired and Khurram thinks that “oh, he was apologizing to me because now he is retired.” I was practically shaking on that scene. Simply moving!

With this Khurram (Hassan Niazi) and his family ends up leaving, at one scene in particular while he was leaving, Jalal’s (seeming to have a heart attack) falls down and Khurram runs over to him, but Jalal ended up being steady as a rock with his decision, resulting in Khurram’s storming out from the home!

Khurram Niazi

Don’t you just hate a character in a particular drama and want to throw something at your screen when he comes in? Yes, I can understand. Khurram as (Hassan Niazi) is playing one of the best characters. Strong delivery, cunning intention, cold-heartedness everything at once was a true reflection of how bad a son can be, how disobedient one can get.

Marina Khan

Marina Khan is playing an amazing mother, her dialogues were limited but very emotional, and that’s not just the highlighting element, the OST added a huge impact with those dialogues, is a genius addition for this drama.

With so much happening around the drama, we really hope that it won’t lose its essence and the strong storyline it follows.

Aulaad airs every Tuesday, 8:00 pm on ARY Digital

Asim Azhar Eliminated From A Music Platform Because Of His Age!

Asim Azhar Eliminated From A Music Platform Because Of His Age!

A recent pop music platform emerged in Pakistan and has made waves quickly for its full-of-beat renditions, limited but alluring originals, and exciting performances.

Irrespective of his originality and his fair share of music and also into acting. But somehow one singer despite making his music shine across borders but still didn’t manage to be old enough to kick out sensation for a local branded music platform. Sad! That singer is, Asim Azhar!

Asim Azhar

For those who don’t know who is he? Let us introduce Asim Azhar to you all, born on 29 October 1996. Azhar is the son of Pakistani veteran actress Gul-e-Rana. He gained attention after his performance for Coke Studio Season 9. Further, he gathered most of the attention with PSL 5 Official Anthem “Tayyar Hain,” along with Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, and Haroon. He has also received an accolade for a best stylish performer at PSA in Dubai. His songs “Tera wo Pyaar” with Momina Mustehsan and “Jo Tu Na Mila” featuring Iqra Aziz crossed over 100 million views on Youtube. The singer recently came into the limelight after his split up with the actress Hania Amir, they both were rumored to be in a relationship. In 2019, Azhar also had an album with an Indian record company and a Bollywood single “Humraah” for the movie Malang planned for release. Due to the cross-border tension between the two neighboring countries, the record company didn’t credit the singer, but Azhar received love and appreciation making the song a massive hit among fans in both states!

The singer has recently collaborated with PUBG Pakistan. And sang “Khelta Jaa” as an anthem PUBG MOBILE, with 3.3M views on Youtube in just one week!

How old is Asim Azhar?

Now you must be wondering with having so much love and experience under his belt, how old one should be to get dropped from a music show? Well, Asim is quite young to be a person for endorsing a Nicotine brand. Turns out, Asim Azhar, who kick-started his career as a singer on YouTube and became one of the most loved pop artists of Pakistan, would not be a part of this brand new branded show, despite recording two songs for it.

According to sources and reports, Asim Azhar was initially going to be a part of the platform until he was told he could not endorse a nicotine product. “Azhar recorded two songs for the outlet but the company decided not to release his tracks, excluding him because of his age, which is 24.”

Apparently one has to be 25 or above to promote nicotine as per their internal legal requirement, though, the government allows 18 and above. This could easily be a matter of lack of planning on the producer’s side, considering how legal contracts get made before any show. And songs being recorded and shot already are not having the window in the show is still a question mark for fans and followers. Both Azhar and the Executive Producer of the show Bilal Maqsood refused to comment on the matter.

According to another source stated that his age wasn’t going to be a problem at first, but right before the show was about to launch, the singer was told otherwise. We might see Azhar performing and wooing his fans with his melodious voice next year we will see the singer spell magic on the platform’s floor, but for now, his fans have to wait patiently for a whole year.

#ShaanSeShine Encouraging Girls to be Unstoppable and Find Their Shine

#ShaanSeShine Encouraging Girls to be Unstoppable and Find Their Shine

Young girls everywhere around the world experience many struggles when they try to own up to their goals and move towards their dreams. These struggles include negative, heartbreaking comments, lack of general basic rights, and the fight for equal opportunities among others. This has been going on for ages and the ultimate and strong goal is to break the stereotype by changing the narrative once and for all.

Similarly, on the 8th of December 2020, social media witnessed something that shone out of the digital clutter. Girls from all around the nation gathered together for one single motive, one loud roar! Influencers and celebrities posted black and white photographs and videos of their back with different hairdos and shared the struggles and problems they face being a girl in this society.

Most of the captions highlighted the narrative ‘Unhoun ne kaha,’ and how girls are tired of hearing what they can’t achieve, but despite all the hurdles posed by society, girls now go beyond all odds to cross them. They are recalibrating and redefining themselves in these unprecedented circumstances by shining in their own special way by pursuing diverse professions they set their hearts on.

Sunsilk #ShaanSeShine gives all of these girls the courage to stand out and speak for all those girls whose ambitions are being stepped on by society. The campaign also features an array of talented strong Pakistani girls from all fields of life, finding their paths and pursuing their dreams. The diversification of ‘Shaan se Shine’ represents how from a Business girl to a National Player and an Actor to a Model or even a Housewife, everyone knows how to shine with Shaan and to follow their dreams no matter what people say!

With #ShaanSeShine girls also shared how they believe in themselves and challenged society by breaking taboos and challenging narratives that seem to have been set in stone for married women and even young mothers who’re forced to believe that their life has ended post-marriage and their duty only lies in taking care of others.

Some of the success stories also highlighted the importance of holding opinions and making your presence matter. Girls can be a powerful asset and support for society with unnerving resilience!

The most exceptional part of this campaign was how working moms took the limelight and shared their success stories, as they found their safe space on social media. Mommy and lifestyle bloggers shared how they are handling their duties and responsibilities as digital content makers and also as mothers, wives, daughters, and moreover, as human beings.

The popular hashtag became the talk of the town after the uplifting stories of success.

A massive amount of strength and love was poured over social media; people appreciated their favorite girl-idol over comments and talked about how brave they were to stand up for themselves! The concept resonates in the audience and echoes the message of confidently embracing one’s identity, fighting for dreams, and being limitless even amidst odds.

In between challenges, hurdles, and hustle, the need for such campaigns is important for this society. It’s crucial for every girl to realize her value, her worth, and more importantly her struggles, her contribution, and her true self!

Sunsilk’s campaign #ShaanSeShine stood out from the rest of the campaigns because it showcased the true face of feminism. The message of empowerment translates into more than just rebellion but a change of thought- not only in girls but also in growing boys. Girls who grab their destiny in their own hands and conquer uncharted territories are awakening the same shine that the product aims to bring for them. So there couldn’t really be a more perfect fit to share this message for girls all around the country, and beyond.

In this now reimagined, new world of empowered girls, the brand further expands and recognizes the beauty of the Pakistani girls with their strong career choices. The Black Shine became the reason for success for every girl out there. So, ab se har larki apne baal bhi sambhaaleygi or shine bhi karegi!

I still have a student mentality towards learning my work – Ahmed Ali Butt

I still have a student mentality towards learning my work – Ahmed Ali Butt

As a 90s kid, you might have head-banged your entire teenage with EP. The band was unique and the rapping element was very new for us in Pakistani music in those days. Well…we have known him as a rapper and we have known him as an actor from old “Jutt & Bond” days. Ahmed Ali Butt has been around for some time now and is the one who always plays his cards fine.

Ahmed Ali Butt

Born in bred in a Punjabi family of Kashmiri ancestry. Ahmed Ali Butt began his career in music, where he was a member of the alternative rock band Entity Paradigm (EP) as a vocalist and rapper. Having a knack for acting, he ventured into the small screen; he used to be a theatre artist back in the 90s and then landed on television where he starred in sitcoms such as Jutt and Bond, Rubber Band, and Inspector Khoji. He has also pursued a career as a comedian and a very successful host as well.

Uncountable Blessings!

While talking to Sara about his journey he told her that he has been blessed to have a caring and supportive family. He further shared how it is like to be a star kid and there is not necessarily a kind of pressure involved in it. He specifically pointed out that perception has been created that, “Actor ka beta actor or singer ka beta singer” because it’s known, he said this needs to be cleared. “I started my career from scratch and yes I learned a lot from my elders because there should always be a learning curve into everything.” He also said, “I have been into the industry for about 18-19 years and official career kick-started with Jutt & Bond but I did theatres before that.” Despite being the maternal grandson of Film Director Shaukat Hussain Rizvi and playback singer Noor Jehan and son of late singer Zil-e-Huma. He appreciatesd how blessed he is and how big inspiration is for him. He quoted, “meine apne baroun se bohat seekha hai. I still have a mentality of a student towards learning my work.”

Ahmed Ali Butt smashes Nepotism

Ahmed Ali Butt smashes nepotism and cleared how this word has now being abused for everyone who follows the dreams of their elders. He quoted “Lougon ke is Nepotism ke lafz ko gaali ki tarah istemaal karna shuru kardiya hai.” He stressed the fact that he has made himself from scratch and the respect he has garnered as a singer as a person, as an actor is all him, he is learned much from his lineage but he doesn’t “Believe in Nepotism.”

Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi

Ahmed also showed his excitement about the Humble Motion Pictures and Omjee Star Studios Entertainment new project “Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi” which is going to be released this year, the actor worked with Annu Kapoor, Neeru Bajwa, and Gippi Grewal. And showed his gratitude to be sharing the platform with such talented people. He further talked about how vast our Punjabi cinema is, of both Pakistan and India. He continued that Punjabi stories are famous in general and they are lively, vivid, and colorful and the sense of humor is a major win and he is excited that UK-Punjabi cinema is creating good content and making the ties of the two countries stronger with time.

Is EP coming back?

Well, I guess fans will be quite disappointed with this, that how upon asking Ahmed shared that Entity Paradigm might not return back. He shared that there was a time when we were there and we all were young and we had our passions. Two bands became one and that one stayed on top for a while creating unification of fans and followers. He said it was a great experience, it was unique and no one did that type of music before including rappers. Now we have so many underground bands and not only underground, famous ones too. He said “EP ne jo karna tha karliya. I am not sure EP is going to come back.” Reunions happen for us and we meet and hang out when we have time, we collaborate as friends, artists but not as musicians and we are not planning to resurface EP as a band, everyone has become caught up with life and other things. But I would always appreciate good music and newly emerging bands!

Ahmed currently is appearing as a host of “Kasoti Online with the King of Comedy” on Express Entertainment and a fun game show with celebrities.

Akcent the Band and Adrian Sina

The band named Akcent was founded by Adrian Claudiu Sina in 1999, in Romania.

The band was formed as a duet with Romana Barta. At that time Adrian worked as a DJ at Radio Contact. The Ramona left and Akcent became a boyband with Sorin, Mihai, and Marius. Together the band created several songs with the first English song Kylie, which became a massive European hit as a club-mix-song (#21 in France, also a hit in North America). The band probably reached its height when King of Disco got released tribute homage to Madonna). And then soon after “That’s My Name,” the band broke up. Leaving Adrian with a solo flight of Akcent! He made Passion as his new single which was widely received and credited in Pakistan and India.

Women Empower Wednesday: Benazir Bhutto the epitome of resilience

Women Empower Wednesday: Benazir Bhutto the epitome of resilience

When it comes to female leadership and empowerment, modern-day icons like Malala Yousufzai, Hillary Clinton, and even Jennifer Lopez are quick to come to our minds. (Not to mention Emma Watson, Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, and “Lean In” coach Sheryl Sandberg.) Fortunately, in this modern world, there are a lot stronger and powerful female leaders out there than common knowledge may suggest; from progressive politicians to dedicated activists.

Pakistan is still not as progressive as the West is, but we also have powerful women who have the narrative to change the world and are on the track to change the world and make a difference in society. One of the women we are featuring today is a political figure; a famous political figure that visioned for the betterment of Pakistan, that woman is, Benazir Bhutto!

Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto was a Pakistani politician who served as the first woman Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1988 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 1996. She was the female to head a democratic government in a Muslim majority nation. Benazir was ideologically a liberal and a secularist, she chaired or co-chaired the renowned political party “Pakistan People’s Party” (PPP) from the early 1980s until her assassination in 2007.

Benazir Bhutto’s Parentage

Benazir belonged to a Sindhi and Kurdish parentage. She was born in Karachi to a politically dominant, wealthy aristocratic family. She studied at Harvard University and the University of Oxford, where she was President of the Oxford Union. Her father, the PPP leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was elected as Prime Minister on a socialist platform during 1973. She returned to Pakistan from Oxford in 1977, shortly before her father was overthrown in a military coup and executed.

Benazir’s Resilience in Politics

Benazir and her mother Nusrat Bhutto took charge of the PPP and led the country’s Movement for the Restoration of Democracy; she was repeatedly imprisoned by Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq’s military government and then got exiled to Britain in 1984. She returned in 1986 and—influenced by Thatcherite economics—transformed the PPP’s platform from a socialist to a liberal one, before leading it to victory in the 1988 election becoming the first woman Prime Minister of Pakistan at the age of 35.

Also in 1987, Benazir married Asif Ali Zardari son of Hakim Ali Zardari, a businessman and landowner. It was an arranged marriage, something stunning for Oxford and Harvard graduate Benazir but she had her reasons for that. According to her, she was introduced to Asif Ali Zardari only five days before agreeing to the proposal. She had her first child Bilawal Bhutto, after a year in 1988.

Benazir Bhutto during her Tenure

As the Prime Minister, her attempts at reform were stifled by conservative and Islamist forces, including President Ghulam Ishaq Khan and the powerful military. Benazir became the voice of the powerless and oppressed and also spent a significant time challenging dictators for the restoration of democracy in the country.

Her administration was accused of corruption and nepotism and dismissed by Ishaq Khan in 1990. Elections were rigged the year by intelligence service to ensure a victory for the conservative Islamic Democratic Alliance (IJI), at which Benazir Bhutto became Leader of the Opposition.

Only two years into her first term, Bhutto again got dismissed from office by President Ishaq Khan. She initiated an anti-corruption campaign, and in 1993 was re-elected as Prime Minister. While in office, she brought electricity to the countryside and built schools all over the country. She made hunger, housing, and healthcare her top priorities, and looked forward to continuing to modernize Pakistan as a secular nation.

During this time Benazir faced constant opposition from the Islamic fundamentalist movement. Mir Murtaza, the brother of Benazir who was alienated from Benazir after his father’s death was returned from abroad to level the charges of corruption against Asif Ali Zardari, Benazir’s husband.

Mir Murtaza tragically died the same year when his bodyguard became involved in a gunfight with police in Karachi. The Pakistani public was shocked by this turn of events, and PPP supporters were divided over the charges against Zardari. Benazir’s resilience was unshaken during those tragic years, the painful demise of her father and then her brother.

In 1996, President Leghari of Pakistan dissolved the National Assembly resultant in the dismissal of Benazir Bhutto from the office alleging mismanagement. A Bhutto re-election bid failed in 1997, and the next elected government, headed by the more conservative and corrupted leader Nawaz Sharif, was overthrown by the military. Asif Ali Zardari was imprisoned, and once again, she was forced to leave her homeland.

Political Exile

For nine years, she and her children lived in a self-imposed exile in London, where she continued to advocate the restoration of democracy in Pakistan. Asif Ali Zardari was released from prison in 2004 and rejoined his family in London. In the autumn of 2007, in the face of death threats from radical Islamists, and the hostility of the government, Benazir Bhutto and her husband returned to their native country.

Assassination

She was greeted by enthusiastic crowds and supporters, unfortunately, within hours of her arrival; her motorcade was attacked by a suicide bomber. She survived the first assassination attempt on Karsaz, Karachi but due to these attacks, more than 100 bystanders died. On the brink of the National Elections of 2008, she was hoping to win the elections and planning to become a Prime Minister once again. But a few days after her arrival in Pakistan, the extremists struck again. After her successful campaign rally in Rawalpindi, a gunman fired at her car before detonating a bomb killing him and more than 20 bystanders. Bhutto was rushed to the hospital but soon succumbed to injuries suffered in the attack. In the wake of her death, riots erupted throughout the country. The loss of the country’s most popular democratic leader plunged Pakistan into turmoil and sadness!

Benazir Bhutto

Despite her strong personality and her charisma as a leader, she was a caring mother of three children Bilawal, Bakhtawar, and Asifa. On one account Bilawal Bhutto, Benazir’s eldest son shared that most controversially when she was pregnant with my sister, Bakhtawar, her prime ministership was challenged for that fact. There were calls for her dismissal, the setting up of a caretaker government because a pregnant woman had no right to be a Prime Minister. But Benazir during those times never stopped smiling and had her baby in secret and came back to the office the very next day. Quite a slap on the misogynists’ faces!

She enduring imprisonment, solitary confinement, exile, assassinations of family members and associates was what she had to live through as a young woman, but what she never left? A dream of making Pakistan a recognizable nation and a strong democratic entity on the world map! As a poet beautifully encapsulates her life and journey as, “Dartay hain bandooqon walay, aik nihatti larki se.”

FAQ

The Iron Lady of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto was the reason political doors got opened for Pakistan. She became the first woman to head a significant political party. Yet she proceeded to turn into the first and till date, the only female Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Benazir at first went to the Lady Jennings Nursery School in Karachi. She was then sent to the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Karachi and afterward to Jesus and Mary Convent, a boarding school in Murree. From 1969 to 1973, Benazir went for a college degree at Radcliffe College, Harvard University.

Asif Ali Zardari is a Pakistani politician who is the former husband of Benazir Bhutto. Zardari is the co-chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party. He also served as the 11th President of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013. He is a member of National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018.

Mazar of Benazir Bhutto is situated at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana, Sindh, Pakistan. The mazar is eminent for containing the graves of the Bhutto family and being the burial spot of Zulfikar, Murtaza, Nusrat, and Benazir. The mazar is visited by hundreds of people every year.

The assassination of Benazir Bhutto occurred on 27 December 2007 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto, two-times Prime Minister of Pakistan (1988–1990; 1993–1996) and leader of the opposition Pakistan People’s Party, was campaigning before elections of January 2008 where she was shot by an unknown gunman.

Drama Review: Aulaad episode 1

Drama Review: Aulaad episode 1

We have picked out a drama serial which touches the reality of relationship and everything around it, the drama serial is Aulaad!

Pakistani dramas sometimes really pick out weird stories and even weirder plotholes with broken stories and unrealistic dialogues and scene sequences, but some stories manage to gather a lot of attention and garner appreciation just after its first episode. I believe this happens because of the closer-to-reality type of stories and a group of people who doesn’t appreciate or all-in-all rejects the whole storyline with just one episode of one problematic dialogue.

Storyline of Aulaad Drama

I turned to social media one and stumbled upon a teaser of Aulaad, Big Bang Entertainment’s recent production , directed by the pioneer Aabis Raza and written by Ameer Ali Shah. The first thing I noticed was the OST, because the whole set of teasers were amalgamated into one OST, and that too by Rahim Shah – His famous song Jhoola – yes! The very emotional Maa Mujhko Jhulao Na Jhoola Rey. I am not going to lie; it was emotional so I planned to write a review on this. I anticipated and watched the very first episode.

Cast Introduction Aulaad

It was a roller coaster; it was very fast-paced for being an opener. Story of Aulaad starts with a usual happy setting of a joint-family of around 5 siblings – 2 girls and 3 boys – living with their parents Jalal (Muhammad Ahmed) and Zakia (Marina Khan). Their sons Khurram (Hassan Niazi), Adnan (Furqan Qureshi), Bilal (Nabeel Zubairi) and their two daughters Roshna ( Minsa Malik) and Mooni (Qudsia).

Almost the whole cast got introduced in the very first scene. As I mentioned that it was fast-paced, the younger daughter of Jalal Ahmed, Mooni is mentally impaired, so she was majorly creating troubles for the entire family. Bilal and Adnan seem to be having a very good bond with her, but Khurram being the elder one is the most vicious character in them all. It was overwhelming in a few scenes.

Plot

Jumping entirely into the plot, the story shows a hanging connection of love, respect and disrespect around the episode. Jalal (Muhammad Ahmed) has been a teacher all his life and spent his entire life on his kids’ wellbeing and education, which their kids realize, but the eldest son Khurram(Hassan Niazi) has some issues with the home-setting. He constantly complains about his money being wasted on the household, and no one appreciates the fact that he is earning and giving most of his share to this family. Whereas, Afreen(Sunita Marshall) being Khurram’s wife is a totally opposite person, she is kind and very sweet towards the family. Adnan on the opposite is seemingly a good son, and a very caring one, he realizes that his parents are getting old and they can not work much, but his wife Farwa(Hina Jawed) disagrees!

The Saas-Bahu-Aulaad Dimension

In general the relationship among the Mother and Daughter-inlaws are different, due to Afreen’s sweet nature, she is the favourite among all, but Adnan’s wife Farwa(Hina Jawed) seems to be having troubles with Zakia, due to Farwa’s harsh nature. Zakia avoids her.

Unreasonable Demands

The part that made me cringed overall was the entry of Muskaan (Mah-e-nur Haider) and Bilal (Nabeel Zubairi) Muskaan is the daughter of Jalal’s brother and Bilal in specific shares a good bond with her Aunt, due to his liking and love towards her daughter, Muskaan, but 5 minutes into the scene and Muskaan demands that she will only marry Bilal(Nabeel Zubairi) If his father (Jalal) will sign his house on her name. (YES, I WAS TAKEN ABACK TOO) There are so many root problems going in that household and this unnecessary demand looked like a filler scene in the story! There could be a lot of problems a writer could have quoted but this is one of the most ragged lines ever “Mein tumse shadi karungi lekin ek shart per, agar tum apna ghar mere naam karougay.” Too much for living in 2020.

The drama ended with an expected cliffhanger, through the magic of hearing both (Zakia & Jalal) on many occasions overheard Khurram’s nagging over money and his share on ONE LAC rupees in the household, made it very clear for the audience that he wants to live alone and be alone with his family.

After the Mooni’s mobile tragedy with Khurram’s son, a fight happened which led Jalal to make Khurram and his Family leave the house. The difference of opinions and thinking made many elements sad in this roller coaster of an episode.

Overall, for a first episode that seemed a lot, financial issues, problems within the family, sarcastic comments on the breakfast table was unexpected, but I guess writer had to tell some real points anywhere. The new characters introductions of Mah-e-Nur Haider and Hina Jawed as Muskaan and Farwa might be adding a good feel to the screen, the cast overall is fantastic in terms of their screentime and their overall contribution in the industry. Marina Khan was a pleasant surprise, seeing her on-screen is always very refreshing. Finally Mooni (Qudsia) is playing an amazing mentally impaired person. The camera work(cinematography) seems appealing. Let’s hope the next episodes won’t disappoint us!

Aulaad airs every Tuesday, 8 pm on ARY Digital.
