Indian politician thinks Rihanna is a Pakistani singer

Indian politician thinks Rihanna is a Pakistani singer

Before we begin with Rihanna being a Pakistani, let us give you a little background on what really is happening in India?

Indian Farmers Protest

The 2020–2021 Indian farmers’ protest is an ongoing protest against three farm acts that were passed by the Parliament of India by Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in September 2020. The 3 [passed] acts include,

-Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act: expands the scope of trade areas of farmers produce from select areas to “any place of production, collection, and aggregation.” Allows electronic trading and e-commerce of scheduled farmers’ produce. Prohibits state governments from levying any market fee, cess or levy on farmers, traders, and electronic trading platforms for a trade of farmers’ produce conducted in an ‘outside trade area’.

-Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act: creates a framework for contract farming through an agreement between a farmer and a buyer before the production or rearing of any farm produces. It provides for a three-level dispute settlement mechanism: the conciliation board, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, and Appellate Authority.

-Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act: allows for the center to regulate certain food items in the course of extraordinary situations like war or famine. Requires that imposition of any stock limit on agricultural produce be based on price rise.

Other related issues incorporate farmers’ suicides and the condition of the economy in Punjab and in India as a rule. India detailed a rising 296,438 Indian farmers suicides somewhere in the range from 1995 to 2015. In 2019, 10,281 individuals who work in the cultivating area ended it all. The more slow development of Punjab’s economy, especially its horticultural agricultural area, is believed to have instigated the on-going protest.

Farmer unions and their representatives have demanded that the laws be repealed and will not accept anything short of it. Farm leaders have rejected a Supreme Court of India stay order on the farm laws as well as the involvement of a Supreme Court-appointed committee. Farm leaders have also rejected a government proposal, dated 21 January 2021, of suspending the laws for 18 months. Eleven rounds of talks have taken place between the central government and farmers represented by the farm unions between 14 October 2020 and 22 January 2021; all were inconclusive.

On February 3rd, farm leaders warned of escalating the protest to overthrowing the government if the farm laws were not repealed. These acts, often called the Farm Bills, have been described as “anti-farmer laws” by many farmer unions, and politicians from the opposition also say it would leave farmers at the “mercy of corporates”. The farmers have also demanded for a creation of an MSP bill, to ensure that corporates cannot control prices. The government, however, maintains that they will make it effortless for farmers to sell their produce directly to big buyers, and stated that the protests are based on misinformation.

Soon after the acts surfaces and introduced, unions began holding protests, mostly in Punjab, and after 2 months it turned into a movement called ‘Dilhi Chalo,’ which causes the Indian government to enforce charges over the protesting farmers, causing a stir, Indian police is now using water cannons, batons and tear gas to prevent the farmer unions from entering into Delhi.

Indian Actors on Farmers Protest

With the ongoing protests, celebrities, Bollywood biggies, and global stars jumped in support and also in criticism. Global icon Rihanna, activist Greta Thunberg, Jay Sean, John Cusack are talking about the ongoing protest,

Actors including Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, Karan Johar, Diljit Dosanjh stand for the Farmers,

https://twitframe.com/show?url=https://twitter.com/rihanna/status/1356625889602199552To which Kangana Ranaut called them out, out of nowhere, she has the need to attack those people who think freedom of speech is still relevant!

https://twitframe.com/show?url=https://twitter.com/KanganaTeam/status/1356640083546406913She also called Greta Thunberg a “spoiled brat” in her tweets.

Sachin Tendulkar also shocked his fans with his tweet,

Is Singer Rihanna Pakistani?

But the most interesting part of this Tweet thread is how casually an American Singer Rihanna gets called a Pakistani, that too from an Indian Politician without any knowledge,

https://twitframe.com/show?url=https://twitter.com/ArifCRafiq/status/1356790772130074630Hari Manjhi Former member of Lok Sabha and Nationalist BJP, has clearly said that Rihanna is a Pakistani singer, we really wish. This started a series of replies from people

Furthermore, Indians are now calling Rihanna a “Pakistani Spy” as her old picture went viral on Twitter with Zulfi Bukhari.

https://twitframe.com/show?url=https://twitter.com/alamdarnaqvi5/status/1356955196455288833This whole protesting wave has caused another very important element highlighted which is “Human Rights Violations.” Farmers have been living under the poverty lines for decades and all the politicians are simply gaining their kind of interests from this whole scenario. No matter what solutions come to the table, Human Rights Violation is evident!

Friday Flix Movie Review: Waar

Friday Flix Movie Review: Waar

Pakistani cinema is now seeing a magnificent boost in films and movies and this a positive image-creation. With new directors and filmmakers took the sword of Lollywood in their creative hands, we don’t get to see, good stories, less gandaasay and more cinematic glamour. If we talk about movies that falls under the category of patriotism… well we have a lot of them as well today we are going to review an interesting and great Pakistani national movie. Waar!

Cast And Crew

Waar is a 2013 Pakistani action-thriller film directed by Bilal Lashari along with Brigadier Syed Mujtaba Tirmizi SI(M) , written and produced by Hassan Rana.

Waar cast includes Shaan Shahid, Meesha Shafi, Ali Azmat, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Shamoon Abbasi, Ayesha Khan, Suhaib Rana and Kamran Lashari. It is the sixth highest-grossing Pakistani film. It is a stylized depiction of events surrounding Pakistan’s efforts to conduct a war on terror on state-sponsored terror groups, which resulted in warfare among tribal units in North-West Pakistan. One incident included a terrorist attack on a Police Academy at Lahore in 2009.

PlotWaar

The film bases around Mujtaba (Shan Shahid), a resigned, straightforward armed force official with a grieved past. He is gotten back to the obligation for a counter-terror activity, driven by police official Ehtesham (Hamza Ali Abbasi) and his sister, Javeria (Ayesha Khan), an intelligence official. The police, military, and insight offices hold hands to stop a monstrous terrorist activity that will put any remaining dread-related incidents to disgrace. Their enemies are the Pakistani Taliban, driven by a Hakimullah Mehsud-styled militant and his multitude of “little angels” (brainwashed youth). The Taliban are paid by RAW specialists, Rammal (Shamoon Abbasi) and Laxmi (Meesha Shafi), who have just a single plan to satisfy: the obliteration of Pakistan, by whatever methods available.

Rammal and Laxmi, who calls themselves as a Pakistani social specialist (as though there isn’t sufficient doubt of NGOs in Pakistan), are villains in the genuine sense, with no hazy situations or saving graces or redeeming qualities; they relish the brutality and death they incur.

At the point when two female suicide bombers get ready for ‘martyrdom’ by exploding the police headquarters in Islamabad — quite possibly the most chilling scenes in the film, and dependent on the genuine and real life attack on the Manawan Police Academy in Lahore in 2009 — the two specialists dance a death salsa.

With respect to the Taliban, it is fascinating. And insightful on the writers’ part. To strip the militants of all religious power. These are men persuaded solely by insatiability and a desire for power. Instead of by any religious calling. All things being equal, the strict sloganeering and inspiration is left to the Pakistani military.

At that point there’s the benevolent yet somewhat naive lawmaker Ejaz Khan (Ali Azmat), mostly modelled on current PM Imran Khan, who needs to see a dam built in light of the fact that he trusts it will profit individuals of the country, despite confronting resistance from different politicians. He requests to their ‘ghairat’ and ‘Mussalmaniyat,’ yet carries on a relationship with Laxmi in private, which he later finishes because of a pestering inner voice. In a press conference with the journalists, Khan rejects that he has a savior or a messiah complex, yet in the protection of his big mansion, he opens his arms to a nonexistent group and hears ringing applauses.

Well, there is no denying that this movie is a propaganda film with heaping jingoism. The movie got loads of critics as well, unpopular but valid. By portraying the Taliban simply as puppets of enemy country. The political element was somehow closer to the reality. To dump all the responsibility to others parties or simply dump it all over another state. There were some clever one-liners which were appreciated. But somehow script was lacking and broken in between. Could have been improved with more strength and less clichés?

The winning element of Waar – “Cinematography”

Waar might lack a few things here and there, but you certainly cannot deny the amazing cinematography by Bilal Lashari. With visually stunning cinematography, Bilal Lashari’s attention to detailing was exceptional throughout the movie he surely has raised the bar for filmmaking in Pakistan up a notch. He made this movie in three years, and it showed with the movie’s classic screenplay as well. Not only the photography was amazing, the cast played a fine job, every role was made for the character. And the performances were detailed, near to perfection and realistic! For not being a documentary but a commercial film. It managed to garner lots of appreciation and love from the audiences. For the love of Pakistan and patriotism instilled, this movie should be in your watchlist for the weekend!

Friday Flix Movie Review: Parasite

Friday Flix Movie Review: Parasite

Before we jump right into the movie Parasite. Do you really feel that it’s so threadbare now in the basic discussion during any kind of random setting after a class or family celebrations to say, “You’ve never seen a film very like (x)?” Such types of statements have gotten used so much that it’s difficult to be paid attention to nowadays, similar to how too many major new movies have skilled the m-word: “magnum opus.”

So how do critics pass on when a film really is startlingly, splendidly flighty in manners that vibe impactful? Also, what do we do when we see a real “show-stopper” in this period of critics telling a shameful lie? Particularly one with such countless exciting bends in the road that the best expounding on it will be long after spoiler warnings aren’t required?

Well I might do my best since Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” is certainly probably the best film of the year. Simply trust me on this one.

Parasite Cast and Crew

The 2019’s Korean film Parasite cast includes Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, Park So-dam, Lee Jung-eun, Jang Hye-jin. The screenplay was by Bong Joon-ho and Han Jin-won.

Awards and Accolades

Parasite debuted at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2019, where it turned into the first South Korean film to win the Palme d’Or. It was then released in South Korea by CJ Entertainment on 30 May 2019. The film was considered by numerous critics to be the best film of 2019 just as perhaps the best film of the decade, and is the 46th most noteworthy evaluated film ever on Metacritic. It earned more than $258 million worldwide on a creation financial budget of about $15 million.

Parasite

Among its various honors, Parasite won a main four accolades at the 92nd Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film, turning into the first non-English language movie to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. It was likewise the first South Korean film to get Academy Award acknowledgment, and one of three movies to win both the Palme d’Or and the Academy Award for Best Picture. It additionally won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language, and turned into the first non-English film to win the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. At the 56th Grand Bell Awards, Parasite procured a main eleven nomination with five award-wins.

Plot Parasite

Portrayed by its director as “comedy comedians, a tragedy without villains”, Parasite is more Shakespearean than Hitchockian. Parasite is a story of two families from far edges of the financial lines, told with the trademark genre-fluidity that has seen Bong’s back index slip consistently from murder secret, by means of beast film, to tragic future-dream and past.

We initially meet the Kim family, headed by father Ki-taek (Song Kang-ho) and mother Chung-sook (Chang Hyae-jin), in their humble semi-basement home, chasing for stray wifi inclusion and leaving their windows open to profit by bug-killing road fumigation. They don’t have anything yet each other and a shared feeling of hard-scrabble entrepreneurism. So when his son Ki-charm (Choi Woo-shik) is confronted with a startling chance to home-mentor a rich student, he gets his talented sister, Ki-jung (Park So-dam), to produce a fake school certificate, feigning his way into the work and into the home of the Park family.

The Slapping Difference of Class portrayed in Parasite

The content for “Parasite” will get a huge load of consideration as it’s one of those cunning stories for which the screenwriter gets the most credit (Bong and Han Jin-won, for this situation), however, this is a lot of activity in the visual language that reaffirms Bong as an expert. Working with the fantastic cinematographer Kyung-pyo Hong (“Burning,” “Snowpiercer”) and A-list design group, Bong’s film is enrapturing with each and every synthesis. The spotless, void spaces of the Park home differentiated against the restricted living arrangements of the Kim-family apartment of action isn’t simply emblematic, it’s outwardly stimulating without calling attention. What’s more, there’s an explanation Kim’s apartment is mostly underground—they’re gotten between universes, stuck in the developing gorge between the lines of wealth and the poor.

The Kim family may live in sewage-overflowed dirtiness, yet they are obviously just as brilliant as, and much more united than, the Parks, who disapprove of the smell of “individuals who ride the metro”. Also, while the smug Mr. Park is routinely portrayed the steps of his home, and the Kims are envisioned rushing down city steps to their own hidden world loft; it’s unmistakable who holds the dramatic high ground. Superb!

The “Line” Surrounded by Architecture Motifs

One of the most subtle-but-strong cinematographic elements that I found very interesting was the “Line” that defines the difference in many of the scenes.

Through careful cinematography the two houses the two classes were separated through lines!

This line is made by the joinery between two boards of window glass, yet in the film, it outwardly isolates the poor people from the privileged ones. Kim Ki-woo and the maid are on one side of our screen, while the rich woman is on the opposite side. This line proceeds for the following not many shots, cutting the screen and isolating poor people and the rich.

In any event throughout the movie, when the rich and poor interact, numerous imaginary lines are always there to separate the characters!

These motifs are difficult to understand, but it somehow shows that Bong Joon-ho tried to explain the class of the movie. Maybe it shows the all the rich people are parasitic or the opposite. Even when the rich family leaves the house, another rich family replaces them.

In Conclusion

The movie is magnificently depicted. Bong, in a very subtle-comical-way, introduced the societal balance of classes and the ladder through which we stand and go either up or down. Parasite finds gasp-inducing depths even on flat surfaces. The movie was perfect in terms of tonal shifts. Jung Jae-il’s perfectly modulated music and cinematography are just outstanding throughout.

For me, Parasite is a cinematic masterpiece, a melancholic ghost story, with horrifying scenes and weird comic elements. The movie is thrillingly played by an amazing cast. This movie should be your definite watch for this weekend because it will hit all your senses and keep you hooked throughout!

The Great Gatsby Is Being Turned Into A TV Series

The Great Gatsby Is Being Turned Into A TV Series

The Great Gatsby is one of the most renowned fictional novels of all time and has been studied in high school classrooms the world over. The F. Scott Fitzgerald book about decadence, love, and life in the roaring ’20s was turned into a huge blockbuster movie in 2013 that starred Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald (The Novel)

The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, the novel depicts narrator Nick Carraway’s interactions with mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and Gatsby’s obsession to reunite with his former lover, Daisy Buchanan.

The tale was inspired by a young romance Fitzgerald had with a socialite, and by parties, he went to on Long Island’s North Shore in 1922. Following a transition to the French Riviera, he finished an unfinished copy in 1924. Subsequent to presenting the draft to editorial manager Maxwell Perkins, the supervisor convinced Fitzgerald to amend the work over the accompanying winter. Regardless of being content with the substance of the content after revision, Fitzgerald was ambivalent about the book’s title and thought about an assortment of choices. The last title that he was reported to have wanted was Under the Red, White, and Blue. Fitzgerald was, nonetheless, content with painter Francis Cugat’s last cover plan.

After its distribution by Scribner’s in April 1925, The Great Gatsby got mixed reviews from critics who accepted that it didn’t hold up to Fitzgerald’s past composition and hence flagged the end of Fitzgerald’s literary accomplishments. Accordingly, Gatsby sold poorly, and in spite of the fact that Fitzgerald accepted that negative reactions of the novel didn’t decipher his work accurately, when the creator passed on in 1940 he trusted himself to be a disappointment and his work failed to remember. However, during World War II the novel confronted a basic and academic reevaluation, and it before long turned into a centerpiece of most American secondary school educational plans and a focal point of American mainstream society. Various stage and film adaptations continued in the subsequent decades.

Gatsby keeps on drawing attention and known consideration. The novel was most recently adapted to the movie in 2013 by chief Baz Luhrmann, while modern scholars stress the novel’s treatment of social class, acquired wealth compared with the people who are independent-self-made, race, environmentalism, and its critical disposition towards the American dream. Similarly, as with different works by Fitzgerald, reactions incorporate claims of discrimination against Jews. The Great Gatsby is widely considered to be a literary masterwork and a contender for the title of the Great American Novel.

The Great Gatsby Turning Into A Miniseries

According to “The Hollywood Reporter” there is good news for all miniseries fans, the novel is now being reimagined for a new audience as now the plot is being stretched into a TV miniseries!

In order to preserve the legacy that Fitzgerald left behind, Blake Hazard, a great-granddaughter of Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald and a trustee of the estate, has been brought on to serve as a consulting producer. But Hirst wants to reimagine the legendary book with current attitudes.

In a statement to THR, the writer Fitzgerald said: “I seem to have lived with Gatsby most of my life, reading it first as a schoolboy, later teaching it at Oxford in the 1970s then re-reading it periodically ever since.

“Today, as America seeks to reinvent itself once again, is the perfect moment to look with new eyes at this timeless story, to explore its famous and iconic characters through the modern lens of gender, race, and sexual orientation.

“Fitzgerald’s profoundly romantic vision does not prevent him examining and exposing the darker underbelly of the American experience, which is why the story speaks to both tragedy and hope, and why it continues to resonate today.”

Blake Hazard says she has long longed for a ‘more diverse, inclusive’ rendition of her great-grandfather’s exemplary and classic story with the goal that it can all the more likely mirror the current state of America. She has high expectations of Hirst bringing a ‘deep reverence’ for The Great Gatsby and is anticipating seeing the new interpretation of ‘such an iconic story’. A+E Studios President, Barry Jossen, has correspondingly high standards about the miniseries.

The Great Gatsby

In a statement to THR, he said: “There are few stories in the pantheon of American literature that transcend time like The Great Gatsby.

“Along with our partners at ITV Studios America and Groundswell Productions, A+E Studios is privileged to bring this powerful, complex work to life under the watchful eye of the incomparable Michael Hirst and the blessing of Fitzgerald family member Blake Hazard.”

Well, we all are waiting impatiently for this masterpiece to have happened, the cast and crew are not decided as of yet but we are waiting for a stellar cast announcement for this. It’s odd to think we don’t get to see Leo, but we wish we will!

Women Empower Wednesday: Saima Mohsin making marks in the US Attorney Office!

Let’s talk about criminal justice before we congratulate and pay our honor to Saima Mohsin the U.S Attorney Office.

Criminal Justice

Have you ever thought about what Criminal Justice is? Criminal justice is the delivery of justice to those who have committed crimes. The criminal justice system is a series of government agencies and institutions. Its goals include the rehabilitation of offenders, preventing other crimes, and moral support for victims. The primary institutions of the criminal justice system are the police, prosecution and defense lawyers, the courts, and prisons. The criminal justice system consists of three main parts

-Law enforcement agencies, usually the police
-Courts and accompanying prosecution and defense lawyers
-Agencies for detaining and supervising offenders, such as prisons and probation agencies.

In the criminal justice system, these distinct agencies operate together as the principal means of maintaining the rule of law within society.

This is the first time proud moment for Pakistan as the feeling is marvelous and historic in terms of an American-Muslim woman took her first steps in the United States Attorney’s office. A moment of pride for many of us as we know the dynamics of our politics over time with the United States, it has been a mix of sweet and sour. And, it is surely not deniable as well. Women’s rights and equality have always been one of the major gender disparity problems in Pakistan where women have been seen fighting for them for ages and still are fighting. One reason is that the recognition is low and opportunities are low. But American-Muslim women making their strides in the US is something to feel proud of. As women, this is a setting of a benchmark enough to be recognized as one gender.

Saima Mohsin

Born in Pakistan, Saima Mohsin is now the First Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Michigan.

Saima Mohsin is a career prosecutor with significant experience handling a broad variety of cases.  She joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2002 and has served in the Violent and Organized Crime Unit, the Drug Task Force, and the General Crimes Unit.  Ms. Mohsin is also an instructor at the National Advocacy Center and frequently teaches Basic Trial Advocacy.  Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ms. Mohsin served as a Deputy Attorney General in the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section of the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice prosecuting complex organized crime cases, and as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City.  Ms. Mohsin received her Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, New Jersey, and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Saima Mohsin

Saima Mohsin, 52, replaced Matthew Schneider, on this occasion she stated, “It is a great honor to serve the citizens of the Eastern District of Michigan as Acting United States Attorney.  I am deeply committed to fulfilling our core mission to faithfully enforce the law and seek justice for all.”

Saima Mohsin is a career prosecutor as she has been a professional prosecutor for quite a long while, working since 2002 in the U.S. Lawyer’s Office. As a Muslim immigrant of Asian descent, she will carry diversity to a key position that is the chief federal enforcement officer in the eastern piece of the state. Mohsin has served in the US Attorney’s Office Violent and Organized Crime Unit, the Drug Task Force, and the General Crimes Unit, the Department of Justice said in an official statement.

Michigan, the place where Mohsin has been appointed has a sizable number of Muslims and a Pakistani-American population with several mosques across the region. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Muslim advocacy and civil rights group, told the Free Press they were not aware of any US attorney or acting US attorney who has been Muslim. Mohsin is also believed to be the first US attorney who is Pakistani-American.

Matthew Schneider on the account said, “I’m extremely pleased to leave this office in the hands of one of the finest federal prosecutors I’ve ever known, Saima Mohsin. Saima is a dynamic trial lawyer and a talented manager. And, as the first woman, immigrant, Muslim United States Attorney in American history, her service is truly historic. Saima will be an outstanding representative and defender of our community as the Acting United States Attorney.”

She is third Pakistani-American in US President Joe Biden’s organization as Ali Zaidi has been picked as Deputy Climate Change Advisor in the White House while Salman Ahmad has been delegated as Director of Policy Planning in US State Department.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Pakistan born lawyer will bring diversity to an important position. Justice needs diversity in many forms, and it should retain and be a source of relief for the people seeking it.

Women Empowerment has a strong root in Michigan Attorney office now, we hope that the system under Saima Mohsin be as a stable as ever. As this will eventually bring peace for everyone.
