Metallica announces new album 72 seasons
Metallica announces new album and a world tour!
Metallica has revealed the title and release date of its upcoming 12th studio album, “72 Seasons,” which will be released on April 14, 2023 through the band’s own Blackened Recordings. The 12-track album, produced by Greg Fidelman with founding members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, clocks in at over 77 minutes and is Metallica’s first full-length collection of new material since 2016’s “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.”
The band has released the first single from the album, “Lux terna,” a three-and-a-half-minute blast that recalls the band’s early albums, which received a big revival earlier this year with the prominent use of their 1986 classic “Master of Puppets” in the series “Stranger Things.”
72 Seasons by Metallica
“72 seasons,” James Hetfield explained about the album’s title. Our true or false selves are formed during the first 18 years of our lives. The idea that our parents told us “who we are.” A possible pigeonholing based on our personality type. The most intriguing aspect of this, in my opinion, is the ongoing study of those core beliefs and how they affect our current perception of the world. Much of our adult lives are reenactments or reactions to our childhood experiences. Childhood prisoners or breaking free from the shackles we wear.” The complete tracklist is provided below.
72 Seasons’ tracklist:
72 Seasons
Shadows Follow
Screaming Suicide
Sleepwalk My Life Away
You Must Burn!
Lux Æterna
Crown of Barbed Wire
Chasing Light
If Darkness Had a Son
Too Far Gone?
Room of Mirrors

The M72 tour will include a bold new in-the-round stage design that moves Metallica’s famed Snake Pit to centre stage, as well as the I Disappear full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under the age of 16.

Friday Flix Movie Review of the Week: Joyland: A daring but distant desire of joy!
Joy, a distant nightmare (or not)
As the male lead trudges through the ocean and waves softly crash against the shore, the cinema screen fades to the title: “Joyland” – Pakistan’s Oscar entry, which opens back in most parts of the country on Monday after weeks of controversy.
Even before the film’s release, a person like me who dislikes watching trailers ended up watching the Joyland trailer more than 20 times. It struck me in an unusual way, with a hint of incredible direction and magnificent faces. Not to mention the haunting background score. I had to watch it once to decide whether the film is as controversial as society believes or simply showing the “actual hidden reality” of our society.
Reaction at hand and heart
I’ve been out of the cinema for more than 10 hours and I’m still immersed in the world of “Joyland.” The film by Saim Sadiq touches on patriarchy, desire, transphobia, and other issues, is a ‘raw and honest’ reflection of Pakistani society in all truth.
Joyland review
Contrary to the title “Joyland,” the lives of the characters in the film are devoid of joy, with them conforming to find acceptance, abandoning their passions to submit to patriarchy, and suppressing desires to fall prey to the norms. The film depicts the anguish they experience while battling all of this and their own confusions.
Also Read: Friday Flix Series of the Week: Ms. Marvel
What agitation do they experience when they feel suffocated by the mould into which they are expected to fit, when they are unable to break the barrier and overcome the taboos? Do they follow it or protest it? Or do they perish as a result of it? All of these questions, and the journey to find answers to them, make up the jarring world of “Joyland.”
The silence in agony
Ali Junejo’s Haider is central to Joyland’s story. The handsome Haider, described as someone “who doesn’t even pee without his father’s permission,” inadvertently challenges traditional ideas of what a man should be. Mumtaz (Rasti Farooq), his beautician wife, works while he is content to be a househusband. He cooks, cleans, and cheerfully takes care of his three nieces, while still searching for a job.
Societal slap after slap
Furthermore, the film revolves around him and examines social rigidities, particularly gender and sexuality, and the quiet, often painful ways in which they manifest. When Haider does eventually find work through a friend, it is not of the traditional respectable variety: Despite his lack of terpsichorean or (performing) abilities, he is hired as a backup dancer for trans female performer Biba (Alina Khan) at a local theatre.

The torn fabric of society
Haider lies to his family about his job, claiming he is only a stage manager. Needless to say, his growing intimacy with Biba, who teaches him to loosen both his hips and his sensibilities — though as things become more intimate, his naive preconceptions about sexuality come awkwardly between them. This movie makes you untangle your social fabric one breath at a time, without yelling social drama.
Mumtaz (Rasti Farooq) attempts to fill the void in her life with various emotions and even attempts to digest his husband’s reality in all honesty. Mumtaz’s relationship with Nucchi (Sarwat Gilani) is spirited and sisterly behind closed doors, but when the family gathers, both women are forced to dull themselves. Mumtaz fell into so many phases of fantasies after being forced to leave her job that she gets tired of filling it.

The feelingful cinematography
What distinguishes “Joyland” from other similar films cinematographically that it combines tenderness and desire. Its gaze, embodied by numerous point-of-view shots of bodies from afar, is undeniably voyeuristic, but these shots are edited as a result of feeling rather than looking. Their context isn’t just the sudden spark of lust, but prior scenes that rely on the nuance and depth of Junejo and Farooq’s performances as Haider and Mumtaz, characters whose every interaction portray a million words about who they are and what they want for themselves — sexually, socially, and in the space where the two overlap.
Final verdict
Sadiq uses Joyland, a family saga, to observe how gender norms constrict, and then asphyxiate individuals. Respectability is a trap set by family and vague notions of honour. Bound by duty to roles they silently question, the weight of obligation and expectations, and much more.

Note: For those who are curious, the film in no way promotes homosexuality or glorifies any form of infidelity. We recommend watching the film and deciding for yourself rather than cancelling it based on preconceived notions.

Thursday Tunes: Bach Ke by Talwiinder and Hasan Raheem is the new laid-back vibe song to end the year!
Hasan Raheem x Talwiinder
We all admit that Hasan Raheem is our favourite here, and why not? He became a charismatic figure for all Pakistani Indie fans. He has climbed many mountains, from Aisay Kaisay to Faltu Pyar ft. Natasha Noorani. Peechay Hutt from Coke Studio season 14 is one of them.
Hasan Raheem is back with another fantastic collaboration, this time with Talwiinder, a Californian artist. Talwiinder, who has 141k subscribers on YouTube, is well-known for his voice and music.

“Bach Ke” by Talwiinder x Hasan Raheem x NDS
The majority of the song is in Punjabi. Hasan Raheem’s Urdu language verse is included. Given that Talwiinder has a husky, heavy Punjabi-esque voice and Hasan has a whispery-soft murmuring voice quality, the blend is absolutely magnificent. The song has a laid-back feel to it. And the Punjabi lyrics “Urre aa gal sundi ja awien na pawade pa.. bach ja eh mundeya ton launde roz ghedi aa…” roughly translates that “Girl come here to me and listen, you have to stay away from the bad guys out there.” The Hasan Raheem part complements Talwiinder’s Punjabi lyrics nicely, making the song danceable! The music is arranged, mixed and mastered by NDS.

The music video is yet another highlight of the song. The entire MV is 3D blended with neon effects, giving it a nice GTA vibe. Also, the car is implying that you should play that while out for a long drive.

Prince Charming storyline
Prince Charming reflects on post-marital depression in modern times for the uninitiated. The 11-minute short film, which tackles a very sensitive subject with reason, sets new precedents for locally produced short films. Furthermore,
Sheherzad (Mahira) is portrayed as a dutiful wife to Akbar (Zahid), a workaholic, and a devoted mother to her daughter, ironically named Wafa. Sheherzad was promised a ‘Prince Charming.’ However, she is still yearning for the love she was promised and attempting to satisfy her compassion needs.

Beginning in the early morning, the short film depicts her life as she divides her time between her husband, her daughter, and her mysterious lover. Furthermore, the short film is devoid of dialogue, and Mahira expresses her emotions solely through her hauntingly beautiful expressions and empty gazes. By far, this is one of the actress’s best performances to date because she speaks through her eyes.

Akshay Kumar drops out of Hera Pheri, Welcome and Awara Pagal Deewana sequels
Akshay Kumar drops out of comedy sequels
Akshay Kumar has reportedly dropped out of the Hindi comedy film sequels Hera Pheri, Awara Pagal Deewana and Welcome as talks between him and producer Nadiadwala have reportedly fizzled out. According to the media, Kumar was not convinced with the quality and vision for the sequels.
“Hera Pheri, Welcome, and Awara Pagal Deewana are three of the most loved franchises led by Akshay Kumar. The actor was quite keen to revisit the iconic films,” a source told Pinkvilla. However, after several rounds of meetings, he has decided to step back. It is because he was unable to align with the broad script ideas.”
They added, “Akshay Kumar is well aware of his fans’ expectations of him in these comedy franchises. He refused to compromise on the quality of these scripts, as attempts to remake these sequels without proper thought and with other actors have already failed in the past.”
Akshay Kumar is no longer Raju
According to the source, Kumar already has a full schedule and is focused on carefully selecting future scripts. “He might choose a fresh, new comedy over riding on the popularity of previous franchises with half-baked scripts,” they speculated.
According to the publication, Kumar will be replaced in the Hera Pheri sequel by Kartik Aaryan. He will play the much-loved character Raju.
A source told Pinkvilla, “The paperwork and handshake happened a day back with Firoz Nadiadwala’s office. Additionally Kartik Aaryan has signed the dotted lines to play the iconic role of Raju, played by Akshay Kumar in Hera Pheri. Both Kartik Aaryan and Firoz Nadiadwala are keen to sign Anees Bazmee as the director. However, the filmmaker is yet to give a go-ahead from his end.”
Will Babu Rao and Shyam return?
Paresh Rawal, who played Babu Rao, and Suneil Shetty, who played Shyam, have both confirmed. Moreover, they will reprise their roles. Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was also directed by Bazmee.

Friday Flix Series of the week: Mismatched season 2
Mismatched is back with season 2
It’s time for me to tell you how I felt after watching season 2 of my favourite show, “Mismatched!”
When season 1 was released in 2020, everyone fell madly in love with just the simple innocence and cuteness that Dimple and Rishi brought to the table. Adding to that, watching a hopeless romantic Rishi put his best foot forward to woo Dimple during a summer course after only falling in love with her photograph was quite entertaining.
Also Read: Friday Flix Series of the Week: Mismatched
Season 1 was unpredictable, with its own set of twists and turns to keep the viewer interested. And this time it is the same with season 2, but with twists and more madness!
Mismatched Season 2 in review
Season 2 begins with the cliffhanger from Season 1. The person responsible for stealing Dimple’s unique software idea has yet to be identified. Communication between the two has deteriorated dramatically. And it is the lethal combination of continual misunderstandings and rash judgments that has turned their relationship sour.
Also Read: Friday Flix Series of the Week: Jamtara Sabka Number Ayega
As the saying goes, “Assumption is the mother of all problems,” thus one shouldn’t be too ready to pass judgement without fully understanding the situation. Except for Rishi and Dimple, it appears that everyone understands the same thing.
Will Rishi and Dimple be able to reconcile their differences and embark on a romantic love life together? Will the person responsible for Dimple’s sleepless night be apprehended? or the romance and love story end happily, or will it fall apart? From now on, no spoilers are permitted.
The characters’ buildup
What’s noticeable about Mismatched Season 2 is how naturally the characters of Dimple and Rishi have evolved since Season 1. Season 2 highlights humanistic side more, which will make you empathise their decisions that would otherwise appear ‘questionable.’
To summarise, the characters have evolved from what they were in Season 1. There is an emotional link between all of the characters. Which certainly stole the limelight.
Vihaan Samat, the king without the crown
Rannvijay Singha, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jafferi, and other supporting characters have also performed their parts and contributed to the story within their restricted scope and bounds. Vihaan Samat and Muskkaan Jafferi deserve special attention for their outstanding efforts. While Vihaan skillfully shows off his vulnerable side and acted absolutely radiant on screen, Muskkaan Jafferi as Celina impresses as someone who has been cornered by everyone due to being overloaded by her own fears.
As a storyteller, director Akarsh Khurana manages to keep you interested till the very end. Something about his direction makes you believe and admire the strength of ‘silly romance and love-filled punchlines’ in this day and age of hookups and dating apps. The screenplay is sharp and, to be honest, adorable!
Final Verdict
Mismatched made sure I’d cry but also chuckle between my tears because I’m an emotional person and love stories like these make me cry a lot. 10/10, a fantastic banging love tale for me, and we are eagerly awaiting Season 3!
