FridayFlix Series of the Week: Hellbound
Thriller – a vicious and exciting part of TV series culture
Observing people try to make sense of the unexplainable will always be a good foundation for a TV show. Whether its people going missing, people fighting a mystery virus, or people trying to make sense of what they uncover on their route to the Bermuda Triangle, these stories touch on something fundamental in a way that few other shows can.
Hellbound Netflix
As a result, when the hunt for answers becomes fully cosmic, it becomes much more powerful. Such is the case with “Hellbound,” the newest international Netflix series to break into the top ten most-watched shows on the platform.
The show has been favourably praised at major film festivals across the world this autumn, and Netflix has released it in its entirety as one of the most recent Korean Original series, Yeon Sang-dark ho’s and compelling six-part series.
Hellbound storyline
A strange catastrophe befalls random people in the not-too-distant future Seoul in it. They are informed that they are bound for Hell and that their day of judgement is approaching by the same wispy, shadowy prophet of doom. They’re left to wait for the inevitable after being given the exact date and time of their death.
Death with a timer!
When the timer goes off, the person in question is visited by a trio of hulking grey demons who pummelled them into the hereafter, looking a little like super-ripped Stay-Puft men, ashy and burning after being left in the oven too long. The three-race off to their shadow domain, capped off with an orb of blazing white-hot pain that chars these folks to a crisp, leaving nothing but half a roasted skeleton behind.
The prophecy and discovery!
Jin Kyeong-hoon (Yang Ik-june), a police detective whose wife was murdered just a few months before, arrives late to the case briefing. His irritated boss asks him and colleague detective Hong Eun-pyo (Park Jung-pyo) to look into the New Truth Society, which has been distributing information about the incidents.
Also Read: Friday Flix Series of the Week: Dexter
They arrive at the scene to find a New Truth gathering, with “Chairman Jeong” outlining what happens: Convicted prisoners see a ghostly presence that tells them when they’ll be taken to hell, and then the dark giants arrive at the appointed moment. They question Jeong about how he came to believe in the prophecy; he first encountered these beings on a pilgrimage to Tibet, and it gave him a reason to live: to discover God and live a life of righteousness. After seeing his daughter Hee-jeong (Lee Re) at the rally, Kyeong-hoon is already enraged.
Final Verdict
At initially, Choi Kyu-Hellbound goes slowly. It’s attempting to weave the story’s threads together, from the strange, seemingly supernatural killings to Jeong and the New Truth, the Arrowhead, and Kyeong-attempts hoon’s to investigate the strange crime while still grieving.
Also Read: Friday Flix TV Show of the Week: Dark
Hellbound comes across as a little disjointed, owing to its attempt to cram all of its characters into the plot. It does a better job than some other shows with so many characters (we’re looking at you, The Wheel Of Time! ), but there are still significant plot holes, such as who the Arrowhead is, why this guy in the goat skull mask is making videos, and what sets them apart from The New Truth (if there is anything).
Overall, it is a one-time-watch series.
Rating: 8.5/10

Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal are married, seek “Love and Blessings”
Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal are married!
Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif have married each other! It doesn’t get any more formal than this. Is it possible? On Thursday evening, the star couple married in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, in the presence of a few family members and friends. On social media, they posted picture-perfect moments from their wedding.
The couple had been dating for two years, according to reports. The actress posted photos from the event on Instagram, writing: “In our hearts, there is only love and gratitude for all that has taken us to this point. As we embark on this new adventure together, I ask for all of your love and blessings.” Vicky Kaushal used the same description when he shared photos from the Jaimala. Goals!
Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, how did it start?
It all began with a cup of coffee. In 2018, Katrina Kaif claimed on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee Alongside Karan 6 that she would “look beautiful with Vicky Kaushal on film.” When the show’s host, Karan Johar, told Vicky Kaushal a few episodes later, the actor looked too faint and exclaimed, “Really?”
Dinner dates
Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif made headlines in 2019 after being caught on a dinner date in Mumbai. On social media, photos from the occasion went insanely popular. This is what we’re talking about, just in case you missed it,
The Diwali appearance
There are only a handful of photos of the celebrity couple together. However, the couple was photographed together at a Bollywood star’s Diwali celebration in 2019. Vicky was dressed in a pastel gown to complement Katrina Kaif’s crimson lehenga.
Stage proposal
Vicky Kaushal was caught on camera flirting with Katrina Kaif on stage during an award show. “Aap kisi achche se Vicky Kaushal ko dhund ke shaadi kyun nahi kar letin?” Vicky asked Katrina. He goes on to say, “Shaadi ka season chal raha hai, toh maine socha mai bhi puchh lun… Mujhse shaadi karogi?” To which, Katrina replied, “Himmat nahi hai.”
But now the couple is married, finally tying the knots with each other in the most romantic setting! Congratulations to both of them!

Bilal Maqsood shares a remembrance video with Junaid Jamshed
Bilal Maqsood shares throwback video of Junaid Jamshed
In honour of Junaid Jamshed’s fifth death anniversary, musician Bilal Maqsood took to Twitter to share a video of the Vital Signs leader offering the Dur singer an opportunity to share the stage with him when he was a developing young artist.
A man with a big heart – Junaid Jamshed
Junaid may be seen in a fringed leather jacket introducing Strings to the crowd and welcoming Bilal on stage in a film from an event hosted by Bilal’s father, Anwar Maqsood, in 1991. Junaid refers to Strings as a “upcoming band” throughout the video, to which the audience responds with applause. “Remembering Junaid Jamshed,” Bilal wrote on Twitter after sharing the video. This video was taken at a Vital Signs event in Dubai in 1991. I attended since Abbu was hosting. He didn’t have to call me to the stage, but he was a man with a big heart! Miss you JJ.”
Bilal Maqsood offered to join Vital Signs
Furthermore, Rohail Hyatt once offered Bilal a position in Vital Signs, but Junaid swiftly rescinded the offer. The Strings’ frontman posted the story on Instagram. Since he had two albums under his belt, the vocalist stated that he had no desire to leave Strings and join another band.
Junaid eventually retracted his offer as well. With a loving heart, Bilal Maqsood expressed his admiration and appreciation for the late artist!
How did Junaid Jamshed pass away?
Junaid Jamshed died in a plane crash at Havelian, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on December 7, 2016. After a tableeghi jamaat tour, he was traveling from Chitral to Islamabad. Jamia Darul Uloom is where he was laid to rest. During the early 2000s, the singer became an evangelist and retired from music.

Drama Review: Sinf e Aahan
Finally, a ray of hope for Pakistani dramas
Almost every Pakistani drama binge-watching woman I know is mentally exhausted these days as a result of what has occurred in Pakistani dramas. The quantity of bechaargi depicted in these dramas in terms of women is not only eye-opening but also draining. The same old routi-dhoti auratain and the same old glorification of physical brutality. Then, with Sinf e Aahan, came a light of hope. It has an all-female cast and a strong female screen portrayal, and it airs on ARY by ISPR, Six Sigma Plus Production & Next Level Entertainment. The drama is written by Umera Ahmed & directed by Nadeem Baig.
After a hectic week, I finally got around to seeing it and have strong feelings about it.
Sinf e Aahan story
The plot is equally focused on five main individuals. Rabia Safeer is played by Sajal Ali, Mahjabeen Mastan is played by Kubra Khan, Pariwesh Jamal is played by Ramsha Khan, Aarzoo Daniel is played by Syra Yousuf, and Shahista Khanzada is played by Yumna Zaidi. Instead of focusing on a few of them, the episode was made to be about all of them. The first episode set the tone for what will be the motivating cause for these five ladies making this life-altering decision. It’s worth noting that, due to the extensive cast of Sinf e Aahan, the drama will have something to offer everyone who tunes in. In one way or another, the audience will select a character among these 5 girls with whom they can easily identify. It was fascinating to see how they managed to keep the plot current by including parallels to the real-life dynamics of women of this generation.

The diversity of characters in Sinf e Aahan
Sinf e Aahan opening scene beautifully depicted the various walks of life that the main characters hail from. For me, the most enticing feature of this drama is the diversity that they have chosen to show, as a result of which a wide spectrum of audiences will find it fascinating and connect with it. The fact that all of these females had one thing in common was established in the first episode; people who did not believe in them or their goals. Those who did not believe they were capable of greatness.

Parents support!
However they showed two such parents who will back their daughters’ decisions, those girls had either a guy or a woman in their lives who were controlling their destiny and telling them that they were not worth it. All of this was displayed in a non-preachy manner, but it all appeared very natural and realistic because this is the kind of reaction most women get when they talk about their goals and desires.
The strong introduction
Because there are so many characters, I’m thrilled that the majority of the episodes will be action-packed and well-paced. Pariwesh Jamal (Ramsha) is a strong Balochi girl with a supporting father and a kind mother. In exchange for returning their lands, their tribe’s Sardar wants Pariwesh to marry one of his servants.
Rabia Safeer (Sajal) is from a military family. Her parents believe that marrying her at this age is the greatest decision for her, despite the fact that she is a class leader and capable of doing so much on her own. She feels suffocated, yet she obeys because she loves and respects her parents.
Despite being dictated by her mother, Mahjabeen Mastaan (Kubra) comes from an affluent society and is inspired by Gen. Nigar; she at least has a definite aim in mind where she wants to live a life of glory. Mahjabeen works as a business lawyer and chose it because her mother wanted her to.
Shahista (Yumna) is a Pathan girl who is revealed to be extremely clever and quick-witted. She lives in a general environment in her family, where she will almost certainly not be encouraged at first, but she is not a quitter.

Then there’s Arzoo Daniel (Syra), a Christian girl who is mature and serene enough to handle everything on her own. She is in a relationship with Noraiz, who is a cheater and a liar (Asad Siddique). ISSB has approached Arzoo about teaching English.
Final Verdict
Overall Sinf e Aahan does give out a happening and good vibe. It is interesting how multiple stories will be parallel with one similar goal. The attention to detail was indeed commendable. I wish that this drama will mark the good standard as Ehd-e-Wafa.
Opening rating: 8.5/10

Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ banned in Middle East
West Side Story is banned in the Middle East
The epic love tale between Maria and Tony will be missed by certain Middle Eastern viewers. Disney and 20th Century rendition of the famous musical “West Side Story,” directed by Steven Spielberg, has been banned in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait.
Furthermore, the film was not given a release certificate in several countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Moreover, Disney refuses to comply with censorship requests in other nations, such as Qatar and Oman.
In view of the fact that Middle Eastern countries have severe censorship regulations about sexuality, profanity, and other characteristics that do not agree with the nation’s cultural beliefs, the movie isn’t altogether unusual. Although “West Side Story” is not vulgar, it is understood that censors did not approve of Anybodys, a transgender character played by non-binary actress Iris Menas. In addition to that, censors in the Middle East and China have frequently targeted films containing LGBTQ undertones.
Eternals faces the same Middle Eastern ban!
The inclusion of Marvel’s first openly same-sex pair in Disney’s comic book epic “Eternals” was recently pulled from release in the same region. Brian Tyree Henry’s otherworldly character Phastos kisses his mortal husband Ben in the film (Haaz Sleiman).

West Side Story, a remake of romance!
On Friday, “West Side Story” will be released in theatres around the country. Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort act as star-crossed lovers in the new remake, which comes 60 years after the original film (which was taken from a 1957 Broadway show). Their new romance adds to the conflict between the Jets and the Sharks, two opposing street gangs. Anita is played by Ariana DeBose, Bernardo is played by David Alvarez, the character Riff is played by Mike Faist, and Valentina is played by Rita Moreno (who received an Oscar for her performance as Anita in the 1961 adaption).
West Side Story, a success worldwide?
Surprisingly, West Side Story has gotten overwhelmingly excellent reviews and is expected to get numerous Academy Award nominations. “A brilliantly conceived cunningly tweaked, and visually astounding rebirth,” according to Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian.

Last but not the least, Disney has not yet responded. We shall have to wait for now!

Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza to launch their own talk show
Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza to start their own talk show
Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik, an athletic power couple, are taking games to new heights. The duo introduced their own show named “The Shoaib & Sania Show.”
Mirza and Malik announced it during a press announcement at the Dubai World Trade Center. The show will air on Urduflix, Pakistan’s first OTT platform. Moreover, it will feature a number of popular cultural icons from both India and Pakistan.
Will this is be a regular talk show? Sania Mirza explains
Unlike previous shows, theirs will not be “catty,” according to Mirza, and would instead focus on the light and cheerful affair of engaging people and customs from beyond the border, with no unpleasant games. The poster for their new enterprise has a fantastic partner-in-crime vibe.
The pair stated in an interview with Gulf News that the program will not be controversial in any way and that it intends to communicate the cross-cultural love they have experienced in disguise.
“It will be a whole lot of love and laughter. I think those two things are very important to us, even as people,” revealed Mirza, explaining the concept. “Everybody that we know, knows that we deal with most things with humor and that is something that helps us a lot.”
Get ready to laugh with Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza
Both ace athletes cope with a high emotional quotient on a daily basis because of their demanding occupations, and the pair said that humor is their shared coping technique, which would be reflected in the show as well.
“The goal is to try to bring that laughter, love, and joy, not just to the audience. However also to the guests that are going to come on the show,” shared Mirza. Furthermore, she shared, “We don’t want to reveal everything. It’s not a comedy show. It is a show where we are going to try to have as much fun as possible and still try to find meaning in it.”
Given her previous performances on several talk shows, including the most-talked-about renowned chat show, ‘Koffee with Karan,’ Malik shyly acknowledged how Mirza had been tutoring him on acting and hosting. Malik shared, “I have been taking classes from her as she’s good! It’s going to be great fun for me. I’ve done some shows, but it was only on a social media platform and all those shows were with my friends. I had so much fun while doing them (interviews), and a lot of people enjoyed it also. I always wanted to do a show from the studio and that’s what is going to happen.”
Also Read: Guess Sania Mirza most liked Pakistani drama?
Who will be featured in the show?
The pair claimed the identities of the guests and other details are still a work in progress, however, Mirza revealed that the ones who have made the initial list are friends and colleagues from both sides of the border with whom they share a personal quirky dynamic.
The duo is famously friends with celebrities like Ayesha Omar, Farah Khan, Parineeti Chopra, Salman Khan, Mahira Khan, Sanam Saeed, and the list goes on, and this vague statement definitely gave away enough for fans to dig deeper while eagerly waiting for the yet-to-be-produced show.

Danyal Zafar shows his gratitude on Instagram

“For 2 years I have just been locked in the studio making music. This was INSANE.”
Furthermore, he said, “When I asked y’all to light up your torches I couldn’t believe what I suddenly saw, it was like an ocean of lights as far as the eye could see… and I got GOOSEBUMPS there and then. He added, “Shine on, you crazy diamond! This is just the beginning!”

Friday Flix Movie of the Week: Dhamaka
Journalism ethics with thrillers – a genre
Thrillers are a genre of film that, regardless of screen size, one enjoys if it is well-made. Dhamaka, starring Kartik Aaryan, Mrunal Thakur, and Amruta Subhash, pokes fun at news organizations that are more concerned with the ‘business of news’ than with journalism and ethics.
‘Dhamaka,’ an adaptation of the Korean film ‘The Terror Live.’ The movie depicts an all-too-familiar conflict between TV networks’ ravenous desire for ever-increasing ratings and ordinary people with little financial and social clout. These are folks who have escaped the clutches of greedy businesses posing as media outlets that solely sell sensation. Some of these folks, ironically, still believe that news anchors are oracles. It’s a fascinating concept, but it’s let down by the clumsy execution.
Dhamaka storyline
The story features Arjun Pathak (Kartik Aaryan) as a cynical, dissatisfied, and egoistic ex-prime time news channel show anchor. Arjun has been ‘demoted’ to a media company’s Radio Jockey due to ‘ethical’ and ‘behavioral’ difficulties by the management. His personal life has also taken a turn for the worst. His wife Soumya Mehra Pathak (Mrunal Thakur) has filed for divorce on mutual consent. Soumya is a senior correspondent for the same organization as Arjun – TRTV – and is known for being a journalist who respects the standards of journalism in her job.

A threat on a prank call
Arjun receives n threatening call on his radio broadcast one day, threatening to blow up Mumbai’s Sea Link in ten minutes. Arjun dismisses the call as a prank and, in an error of judgment, encourages the caller to prove it. As the caller detonates the first bomb put on the Sea Link, Arjun’s life takes a dramatic change.
Arjun, seeing this as an opportunity to make a comeback, chooses not to alert the police about the caller and instead strikes a deal with the channel’s boss, Ankita Malaskar (Amruta Subhash), to return his prime-time position in exchange for this exclusive news. She agrees, enticed by the chance to boost the channel’s ratings.
Kartik Aaryan saved the many loopholes of Dhamaka
The lead actors’ acting is a highlight of the film. Kartik Aaryan, Mrunal Thakur, and Amruta Subhash deserve praise for their portrayals of their respective characters. It’s encouraging to see Kartik deviate from his usual role as a romantic hero. His character is perpetually torn between ethics, success, and the spotlight. When he transitions through his crucial line, jo kahunga sach kahunga, he reveals Arjun Pathak’s hypocrisy (Whatever I say, will be the truth).
Ankita Subhash takes on the role of a ruthless and manipulative channel president who reminds her colleagues, “We are not doing journalism.” We’re in the news business! Mrunal Thakur (who has been credited in roles as a special appearance!) gets her due in screen time – which does not look to be insignificant. She has a firm grasp on her image as a moral and ethical journalist.

The confusion and the loopholes
The film is directed by Ram Madhvani, who also co-wrote the script with Puneet Sharma. It depicts what’s wrong with the media industry. However, there are significant plot holes that go unresolved in the endeavor. What is the terrorist’s route to the Sea Link and other locations? Despite the antagonist being a chemical explosive expert, the writers appear to be confused with the different types of explosives. The picture succeeds as a thriller because of its plot, but the grip loosens as it progresses. The storyline will make the audience think of A Wednesday. It’s a difficult task to complete.
Watch the trailer here
Final Verdict
The acting, without a doubt, rescued the day. From Pyaar ka Punchnama to Dhamaka, Kartik Aaryan has developed into a fantastic actor. His parts have become more defined, and his acting talents have improved. The film has some big plot problems, but it still manages to stay on trend, and a media professional can relate it to a commercial perspective.
Rating: 7/10
