Sharmila Faruqui slams Nadia Khan with a 50million defamation notice

Sharmila Faruqui vs Nadia Khan: The spat continues

Sharmila Faruqui serves defamation notice to Nadia Khan

On Saturday, legislator Sharmila Faruqui submitted an Rs50 million defamation notice against prominent television personality Nadia Khan over her viral video involving the prior’s mother.

Nadia posted a “defamatory video” on her Youtube channel. In the video, she “violated her mother Anisa Farooqi’s privacy. Moreover, she insulted her over her makeup look,” according to the notice, which she shared on her Instagram Stories.

Nadia has 15 days to recant her words, apologize, and pay Rs50 million in compensation, according to the notice. The notice reads, “On behalf of Mrs. Sharmila Farooqi, Member of the Sindh Provincial Assembly, who has instructed me to serve upon you the following legal notice under Section 8 of the Defamation Ordinance, 2002, on account of a defamatory video published by you on your YouTube channel, namely ‘Outstyle,’ on January 20, 2022.”

Nadia Khan defamation notice from Sharmila Faruqui

“My client is a well-reputed politician and you have tainted her persona as a result of the abovementioned video. It is a well-known fact that anyone who runs a YouTube channel gets remuneration for views and engagement. Hence, by posting hate speech against my client, you are trying to create a controversy just to get noticed,” it goes onto the claim. Adding that “it is unfortunate” that a known media professional like Nadia, “is posting with such reckless disregard.”

In response to Sharmila Faruqui’s notice Nadia Khan also slams a legal notice. Her Instagram post reads, “My lawyers are sending a legal notice to Sharmila Faruqui suing her for 50 crores for defamation.” Furthermore, it reads, “And using insulting remarks for a woman. I wish if she had only done the good deed for any needy woman or a helpless child. She would still have got the media and our attention.”

What happened between Nadia Khan and Sharmila Faruqui?

After engaging in a dialogue with Anisa Farooqi for a video in which she ‘compliments’ her makeup and sense of style, Nadia found herself in hot water. Sharmila and many viewers were offended by the remarks, believing Nadia was being sarcastic. Sharmila called it a farce and that she would take legal action against the host. The politician also filed a complaint with the FIA against Nadia later that day. “She is a shameless woman, I’m officially reporting her to cybercrime,” the lawmaker said in a comment on an Instagram video.

Anisa had been approached by Nadia at a wedding and she had asked her, “Do you have a cosmetic artist? It’s just stunning!” Anisa explained that she does it herself. And when the host-cum-actor asked where she learned it, Anisa credited her daughter Sharmila. Nadia mockingly appreciated Anisa on her fashion sense, jewelry, and makeup, while Anisa accepted all compliments and queries without questioning Nadia’s motives. Despite the clarification Nadia provided in response, it appears her daughter is certain Nadia did not mean good.

Friday Flix Series of the Week: Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam

Friday Flix Series of the Week: Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam

The unending love of web series

I’ve been talking a lot about web shows lately. This Friday Flix segment allows me to indulge in my love of series a bit more than normal, which is fine by me. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO, Zee5, and a slew of other series platforms have become obsessions for me and many others. This culture has also influenced the way movies are made. The movie business has suffered greatly since the outbreak of Coronavirus. People are staying at home and viewing or binge-watching shows, which has impacted the cinema-going culture. For anti-social folks like me, it’s cheap, fun, and great. I came upon Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam while binge-watching. Following Churails, this was yet another pleasant surprise for me. Let’s chat about the series for a moment.

Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam

The series from ZEE5’s ‘Zindagi,’ is a sort of anthology. It tells the experiences of a diverse group of strong women who refuse to be victims and instead aim to be the authors of their own stories; women who go out of their way to achieve what they want, including murder! Meenu Gaur, a British-Indian filmmaker, directed Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam, which was scripted by Gaur and Farjad Nabi, the well-known Pakistani filmmaker.

You can binge on to Qaatil Haseenaon Ke Naam for the chance to see dark and flawed female heroines on television, as well as the fantastic cast. Sanam Saaed, Sarwat Gilani, Samiya Mumtaz, Faiza Gilani, Beo Rana Zaffar, Eman Suleman, and Meher Bano are among the cast members.

Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam season 1 storyline

Mysterious figures darkly lit lanes and blood-spattered in an old historic mansion somewhere in Pakistan — a setting that defines the grim mood of the story from the first episode forward. Meenu Gaur, a critically renowned British-Indian filmmaker, spends no time in introducing us to the world of fierce women, whose beauty and vulnerability completely conceal the fire that burns within them. Gaur carefully plots the narrative of all her stories with a repeating sub-plot as its backbone, which acts as a common ground, relying largely on her ensemble cast from across the border. The neighborhood where Mai (Samiya Mumtaz) resides in her opulent yet modest villa is the breeding environment for a slew of stories and mysteries that gradually emerge as the show develops.

Bigger cast, even bigger story

While the first few episodes are more self-contained and wholesome as stories, the last several are a revelation from the first, since the show follows a non-linear format. This, however, is what makes the series overly convoluted and difficult. That is not all, this has an unfavorable effect on the storytelling tempo, which slows down over time. To be honest, keeping track of so many characters, some of whom are even similar in appearance, and plotlines that are running concurrently and crisscrossing through the episodes is difficult. Well, this might be a big stumbling block for the show’s success.

More indoors, less outdoors

Independent stories of the characters are, by definition, more intriguing and engaging, because they have fewer problems. All of the stories have a noir tone to them, as well as a mysterious soundscape that adds poetic refinement. The filmmakers do not appear to have freely explored Pakistan as a setting for some reason. While there are a few sweeping ariel vistas of the cities, the majority of the action occurs within. Moreover, most of the scenes show the background (in out-of-focus), and all we know is that everything is taking place in indoor Pakistan.

Final Verdict

Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam is a commendable attempt to defy preconceptions and show strong individuals with sufficient conviction and sympathy. The show’s most compelling feature is its all-female cast. While everyone does an excellent job in their roles, Beo Raana Zafar, Sanam Saeed, and Samiya Mumtaz stand out for their restrained acting.

Thursday Tunes: The sensational PSL7 anthem Agay Dekh

Thursday Tunes: The sensational PSL7 anthem Agay Dekh

PSL7 anthem Aage Dekh is yet another groove-fest

We were not even gotten over with “Groove Mera” yet and Agay Dekh is here! Atif Aslam, Aima Baig, and Abdullah Siddiqui performed the highly anticipated anthem for the Pakistan Super League’s seventh season. The superb production of the tune, titled Agay Dekh, shines through, with Aslam giving the kind of performance one would expect from a singer of his repute after such a long time. It succeeds in getting people up and dancing, but it lacks the grandeur of an anthem, such as that found in Abdullah Siddiqui’s previous Zalmi release, Kingdom. Despite its flaws, the song excels as a pop song and possesses the aggression that Groove Mera, the previous PSL anthem, missed.

The music video Agay Dekh

The song’s video features all of the classic images of cricket fans watching a match with bated breath, celebrating victory, and packing stadiums. In a fur-lined jacket, Atif dances to the music, while Aima spins in a ring of flames. The song has received over 3 million views and is currently the second most popular video on YouTube.

According to a PSL statement last year, the HBL PSL was robbed of its home crowd because of Covid-19 restrictions, but this year we will have fans in the stands. Furthermore, it says that the biggest sporting event in Pakistan is a festival and a celebration. And the song honors everyone who looks forward to this time of year. Moreover, it read that they wanted to express how much everyone loves cricket with ‘Agay Dekh,’ as well as capture the attitude, fierceness, and banter that comes with it.

Groove Mera of PSL6

Last season’s anthem, Groove Mera, performed by Naseebo Lal, received a lot of flak for not living up to PSL fans’ expectations. On the other hand, social media reactions to the PSL 7 song Agay Dekh have been overwhelmingly positive. Despite this year’s anthem’s relative success, Twitter users compared it to Ali Zafar’s Ab Khel Jamay Ga.

But the truth remains the same that,

Well, here comes a relevant meme after the comparison,

The last episode of 'Parizaad' is to be broadcast in theatres on Friday

The last episode of ‘Parizaad’ is to be broadcast in theatres on Friday

Television dramas in cinemas

Popular television series is being screened in theatres, which appears to be a trend these days. What began with a successful screening of the final episode of Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan’s drama Meray Pass Tum Ho has become a growing trend, with Sang-e-first Mah’s episode recently screened and now the much-anticipated final episode of the blockbuster serial Parizaad set to hit theatres on Friday.

Syed Muhammad Ahmed, Adeel Afzal, Urwa Hocane, Saboor Aly, Ushna Shah, Yumna Zaidi, Mashal Khan, Tipu Shah, Kiran Tabeer, Leyla Zuberi, Madiha Rizvi, and Malik Hamid Raza are among the cast members. Ahmed Ali Akbar has proven his mettle playing the lead role as Parizaad.

Parizaad Finale

Last week, another episode was announced to provide complete closure to the show’s audience. Which was previously slated to feature 28 episodes. The last episode will now air on prime time television on February 1, four days after its theatrical release.

The controversy of skin darkening

Although the darkening of Ahmed Ali Akbar’s skin tone for Parizaad irritated a bunch of viewers. The serial has an ever-growing fan base thanks to its unique storyline. Moreover, the characters provided a welcome respite from the usual family dramas and toxic love triangles.

Parizaad Storyline till now

Parizaad’s characters are multi-faceted and rarely stereotyped, thanks to Hashim Nadeem’s beautiful writing. From escort culture in a high-fashion rich state to a queer person in a middle-class family, the serial managed to spark new debates.

Parizaad (Ahmed Ali Akber) does not resemble his name, which means “born of a fairy” and hence implies someone charismatic. If all other factors are equal, Parizaad appears to be darker and more obnoxious. He has been treated as an outcast since birth. He is, however, substantially smarter than everyone else in the room and has a kind heart. Naheed (Ushna Shah), his neighbor and student, shows out as a clear contrast to Parizaad.

Parizaad’s life shift

With a complete 360 shift in Parizaad’s life within a span of 5 years throughout the drama, Parizaad was an insecure and self-doubting man who is faithful to his core, went through an emotional and financial rollercoaster. His acting was perfectly representative of his socioeconomic level and emotional battles with accepting self-love and pursuing his aspirations, from a poet to a mechanic to a personal chauffeur to a business tycoon. He chooses to leave everything behind for a nomadic life until he finds a place where he truly belongs, as revealed in the second-to-last episode.

What will happen in Parizaad?

Will Parizaad be able to pick a location of love or will he abandon everything once more? Would he be reunited with RJ Annie, who has recently regained her vision? Will his childhood trauma and inferiority complex be forced out of him by money, Annie’s love, and power? The novel has a sad ending, but let’s hope the serial does not finish with his inner troubles smothering him to death despite his having all he ever desired.

Friday Flix Web Series of the Week: What the Folks

Friday Flix Web Series of the Week: What the Folks

The trend of YouTube web-series

People used to rent out movie CDs and cassettes so that they could watch them with not only their immediate families but also their extended families. The culture was extensively spread across decades, but with technical developments, YouTube took over, and the web-series era has now taken over. Indian web series, without a doubt, hold a unique spot on YouTube. It’s time for What the Folks! after Asur, Mismatched, Pitchers, Aspirants, and Kota Factory!

What the Folks cast

The Web-series “What the Folks” (2017 – present) cast include Eisha Chopra, Veer Rajwant Singh, Anula Navlekar, Kriti Vij, Deepika Amin, Dhruv Sehgal, Shishir Sharma, Vipin Sharma, and Renuka Shahane.

What the Folks story review

The series is a five-part online series about a man named Nikhil who is forced to live with his wife Anita’s parents for a period of time due to his job. The couple has been married for a while, and while Anita continues to live in Delhi, Nikhil has relocated to Mumbai with Anita’s parents and younger sister, Akshata. It immediately establishes all of the elements of a typical family drama, but with a reverse saas-bahu twist.

The generation gap!

Nikhil’s bittersweet encounters with his wife’s family include amusing scenes that are eerily applicable to today’s youth. It’s a narrative about how multicultural families overcome hurdles, overcome cultural differences, and learn to value one another despite the fact that their worldviews are still extremely different.

It’s not only about laughter!

Furthermore, we will see the protagonists dealing with issues like aging parents, changing marital preferences, empty nest syndrome, and divorce life, among many others, throughout the seasons. Each episode should have the audience laughing out loud as it combines comedy with situations that are all too familiar.

Final Verdict

It’s not just you; there are broken families all around; everyone is fighting the same problems; the generation divide is decades old. Despite everything, the fact that you love them and they love you is the most essential thing. So relax, take in the scenery, and, if you’re lucky, chuckle a little!
