Xiaomi pushes Apple down in tech world

Well, things are looking quite good for Xiaomi these days. As the Chinese smartphone maker company was recently removed from the U.S. blacklist. After the Department of Defense realized that it is not a “Communist Chinese military company.”

According to new data from Canalys report, the company has overtaken Apple to become the number two smartphone maker globally.

According to the report, Xiaomi took the second spot for the first time with a 17% share of worldwide smartphone shipments, up 3% from the previous quarter.

Whereas, Samsung continued to hold the top spot with a 19% share. Meanwhile, Apple was pushed down to the third spot with a 14% share, Canalys said. Oppo and Vivo (both 10 percent) completed the top five. Global smartphone shipments rose 12 percent in the second quarter, it said.

“Compared with Samsung and Apple, its average selling price is around 40% and 75% cheaper respectively,” said Canalys Research Manager Ben Stanton.

Furthermore, he said, “So a major priority for Xiaomi this year is to grow sales of its high-end devices. And these devices include Mi 11 Ultra.

Moreover, he added, “But it will be a tough battle, with Oppo and Vivo sharing the same objective, and both willing to spend big on above-the-line marketing to build their brands in a way that Xiaomi is not.”

Even though the company faced massive backlash in the past due to its phones burning up after heating and injuring people, this news is still a big thing in the tech world!
