Friday Flix Drama Review: Alif
Drama serial Alif was Geo Entertainment’s most loved production of 2019 and fans and followers fell in love after the first episode. We all know Pakistani dramas are all about ‘saas-bahu,’ family political games, and, weird affairs. Alif was different. It was soulful. It was beautifully directed, the OST and the scenes were well-coordinated.
Alif Cast
The drama is produced by Samina Humayun and Sana Shahnawaz, and directed by Haseeb Hassan. The cast of Alif includes Hamza Ali Abbasi, Pehlaaj Hassan, Aadi Khan, Sajal Ahad Aly, Hadi Bin Arshad, Kubra Khan, Ahsan Ali, Manzar Sehbai, Saleem Mairaj, Sadaf Kanwal, Osman Khalid Butt, Yashma Gill, Nida Mumtaz, Saife Hassan and more.
Storyline
Alif is a journey of Qalb-e-Momin and Momina, where Momin discovers his roots and choose the right path and Momina, for her family’s livelihood joins industry and the path further cherishes for her. The story’s other beautiful part features Kubra Khan and Ahsan Khan’s story as Momin’s mother Husn-e-Jahaan.
Not too preachy storyline
Alif was an excellent show. It talked about spirituality, judgements, regrets, consequences and then everything falling in its opportune spot. Each and every character and its excursion had such a huge amount to bring to the table. Umera Ahmed indeed composed a magnificent and thought provoking story which permitted individuals to investigate their hearts and simply pose straightforward inquiries about the motivation behind their lives. The most delightful part – it never under any circumstance got preachy and every dialogue was smooth and according to the scene’s need.
It revolves around a famous and snobbish film director Qalb-e-Momin, he is blunt and ruthless. He has worked hard to achieve what he wants. Young Qalb-e-Momin (Pehlaaj) was very different. He was observant, kind and caring, especially for his mother Husna aka Husn-e-Jahan (Kubra Khan).
Whereas, Momina Sultan (Sajal) was a struggling actress and want to become something so she can provide for her family. Her mother and father were also side-actress and makeup artist in the past. So she wanted to be in the industry. Momin and Momina had a brief, but a sour encounter on a set where she goes to audition. Her mental block was a barrier for her and she has to let that go in order to achieve something.
Closing thoughts
The storyline has a well connection with past and present. The acting was fabulous as the storyline itself. Every dialogue and every scene looked closer to reality and nothing felt fake throughout.

In 13 episodes, the story which was scattered to places came on one single page and was ended on Rumi’s famous quote, “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right-doing there is a field I’ll meet you there.”
