Maya Ali and Wahaj Ali’s friendship story is well-known to the eyes and ears. Their friendship originally came to prominence when Maya was seen rocking the stage at Wahaj’s Mehndi. Both of the popular best-buddy-duo are seen on television together for the first time in Geo Entertainment’s drama ‘Jo Bichar Gaye.’
Historical dramas and Pakistani industry!
Historical dramas appear to be taking over our television screens for the foreseeable future. ARY Digital has launched Hangor, a new telefilm based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war. With the latest show ‘Jo Bichar Gaye,’ it appears that Geo TV isn’t far behind. They sent out feelers for their historical drama with teasers that were silent but promised a gripping plot, which the trailer proved. Now that the first episode gets on-air last night. Here’s what we know about Maya Ali and Wahaj Ali’s new drama’s first episode.
Jo Bichar Gaye cast
The drama features a stellar cast including Maya Ali, Wahaj Ali, Talha Chahour, Nadia Jameel, and Adnan Jaffar in leading roles. Further cast includes Sajid Shah, Fazal Hussain, Rana Majid, Aurangzaib Mirza, Omar Darr, Ahmed Abbas, Shireen Zahid, Usman Zia, Omar Cheema, Zaheer Taj, and Fahad Hashmi.
Jo Bichar Gaye drama storyline
Jo Bichar Gaye features Maya Ali (Sonia) and Wahaj Ali (Roomi) alongside Talha Chahour and Nadia Jamil as the main characters. Based on genuine events, the historical drama appears to be set during the 1971 war, with clashes leading to Dhaka’s collapse. Maya Ali plays the role of a Pakistani student studying at Dhaka University. She speaks for Pakistan. Whereas, Wahaj plays the role of a Bengali student activist. With animosity on both sides, our main characters will find themselves in the midst of a struggle, each fighting for a cause they believe in, albeit they may not always be on the right side of history. Additionally, Maya Ali appears to be a performer from East Pakistan who opposes the revolution and is seen accusing a man of being a murderer for instigating the revolt in one scene.
The cinematography and the overall 1971 mood are the best aspects. Nadia Jamil, who plays Maya Ali’s mother, maintains a level of brilliance throughout the first episode.

Jo Bichar Gaye is directed by Haissam Hussain and written by Ali Moeen, is released on December 12th. The drama is expected to raise the bar. Moreover, it is also expected to be heartbreaking, as most historical dramas are. Last but not least, let’s hope Maya Ali and Wahaj Ali in their new play will honor their roles.
