Everything to know about the Omicron variant of Covid-19
The horrors of Omicron Variant
The World Health Organization (WHO) designated a novel SARS-CoV-2 variant presently circulating in South Africa as a ‘variant of concern’ on Friday. It was also given the name Omicron.
The mutation was discovered on Monday by the Network for Genomics Surveillance in South Africa (NGS-SA). It had discovered a cluster of SARS-CoV-2 viruses that belonged to the B.1.1.529 lineage.
According to preliminary findings, this variant may be even more transmissible than the highly infectious Delta form. And current vaccinations may be less effective against it.
What do we know about Omicron thus far?
As SARS-CoV-2 spreads, new variants occur, and the significance of each mutation is discovered after some time. However, health authorities around the world must keep a close eye on which ones are more vital than others. The NGS-SA discovered B.1.1.529 as part of such an experiment.
Also Read: Covid-19 Delta Variant: All you should know about this strain
B.1.1.529 has several spike protein mutations, according to what is currently known. And a preliminary study suggests it is highly contagious. Over the previous two weeks, South Africa has seen a four-fold spike in new cases, corresponding with the appearance of B.1.1.529.
B.1.1.529 has rapidly expanded in Gauteng province, which encompasses Johannesburg and Pretoria, from November 25, 2021. According to the NGS-SA, and may already be present in most provinces. Cluster outbreaks, according to the NGS-SA, may be behind the ongoing increase in cases.
What are the modifications that make this Omicron variant unique?
The new variety B.1.1.529 has “very unusual constellations of mutations,” according to the NGS-SA, with 30 in the region that encodes the spike protein, which is important for the virus’s entry into human cells.
The modifications in Omicron variant
Some of the alterations are well-characterized, having a known phenotypic influence on transmissibility and immune evasion, according to the study. In the Alpha and Delta forms, some of these mutations have already been discovered. Many other mutations, however, have been “rarely observed until now and not well characterized,” according to the NGS-SA. As a result, the full relevance of these alterations is unknown at this time. “More investigations are underway to determine the possible impact of these mutations on the capacity of the virus to transmit more efficiently. To impact vaccine effectiveness and evade the immune response, and/or to cause more severe or milder disease,” the Africa Centers for Disease Control (CDC) stated.

Is there a difference in the symptoms?
According to the South African National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), “no unique symptoms” have been observed as a result of infection with the B.1.1.529 strain. It has drawn attention to the fact that, like other infectious variations like Delta, some people are asymptomatic.
What should you do?
It’s unclear whether Omicron is more transmissible (i.e., easier to transfer from person to person) than other variations, such as Delta. In areas of South Africa afflicted by this variation, the number of people testing positive has increased. However epidemiologic studies are planned to determine if this is due to Omicron or other factors.
Individuals can reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus by maintaining a physical distance of at least 1 metre from others, wearing a well-fitting mask, opening windows to improve ventilation, avoiding poorly ventilated or crowded spaces, keeping hands clean, coughing or sneezing into a bent elbow or tissue, and getting vaccinated when their turn comes.

What is a Reseller?
A business that buys services or things to resell rather than consume. This is frequently applied to an affiliate marketer in e-commerce. Because the resale goods to end users, retailers are considered resellers. Because they resell the things they buy to retailers, wholesalers are also known as resellers.
A reseller will purchase things for resale and profit, whereas a retailer will purchase goods from a producer and then resell them to his consumer at a higher price.
The reselling chain will see a price increase from the manufacturer to the merchant and finally to the customer. With each link in the chain profiting from the resale of the items. Resellers may simply increase the price of the things they resale. Or they may add value by merging related items or repackaging.

Are resellers registered?
A reseller is typically a registered business entity or an individual who buys and sells goods and services for the purpose of generating revenue per sale transaction.
This is more like a distribution procedure in the retail chain, where merchants step in to sell items directly to consumers from wholesalers. Resellers must alter commodity prices in order to create huge profit margins on each product sold.
Out of the reseller market, Zarya is one of the startups that is helping many home-based resellers, but how? Let’s find out!
Zarya
Founded by the sibling duo Faisal and Saad Zahid Zarya is a platform for resellers. Zarya provides a list of things for sale mainly to the home-based sellers (housewives). This platform allows the partners to concentrate on selling while Zarya handles everything from product sourcing through fulfillment. And when a sale is completed, each seller’s profit is transferred. Additionally, resellers don’t have to worry about dead stock or setting aside working capital for their business. They simply sell and leave the rest to Zarya.

Furthermore, Zarya is using Pakistan’s growing social media usage, which includes 100 million YouTube viewers and 45 million Facebook users, to launch a social eCommerce platform.
Despite the COVID-19 dilemma, the worldwide market for social commerce is forecast to be worth $89 billion in 2020. Moreover, it is expected to rise at a compounded annual growth rate of 31.4 percent to reach US$604.5 billion by 2027.

Meesho the social selling platform of India
Moreover, Meesho in India pioneered the notion of social selling, which has now been adopted by a number of businesses in emerging markets. This includes Brimore and Taager in Egypt. Meesho was founded in 2015 and has raised over $1 billion in total funding to date. With its most recent funding round valuing the company at close to $5 billion.
Zarya announces raising $1.7mn in pre-seed funding
The Lahore-based B2B e-commerce platform has secured $1.7 million in a pre-seed round led by Raed Ventures, one of MENA’s leading VCs, with participation from Fatima Gobi Ventures, Class 5 Global, and Global Founders Capital. Taager, an Egyptian social commerce firm, joined the round after raising $6.4 million in a preliminary round earlier this year. The funding will be used to expand the startup’s seller supply.
Zarya currently has over 3,000 products on its website, with intentions to expand into other categories such as abayas, shoes, home textiles, and beauty in the near future.

Last but not the least, this makes you realize that the younger generation’s film business has a lot of potential, and there’s a lot more to it than just domestic politics and saas-bahu drama. In particular with their humor, talent, and aptitude, these kids can do anything if they are given the correct platform.

Book Review: Composure: The Art of Executive Presence by Kate Purmal, Lee Epting and Joshua Smith
About the authors Kate Purmal, Lee Epting and Joshua Smith
Kate Purmal, Lee Epting, and Joshua Isaac Smith, executive coaches, deal with ambitious, accomplished women whose confidence doesn’t match their accomplishments. Resultant in causing severe tension and anxiety. Their book, ‘Composure: ‘The Art of Executive Presence’ which employs a series of case studies of executive clients to take readers through the typical causes of this lack of confidence.
It provides effective ways to restore it, walks readers through the main causes of this lack of confidence, and effective ways to restore it.
Kate Purmal
Kate Purmal is an outstanding visionary and compulsive optimist who brings out the best in leaders and their teams. She has worked as a CEO, COO, and CFO for start-ups and privately-owned technology and life sciences organizations for over 15 years.

Book Review: Composure by Kate Purmal, Lee Epting and Joshua Smith
Purmal is the protagonist of the novel, which is written in the first person. Its title and framing device, “comfort,” are a bit of a red herring. While Purmal emphasizes the need of developing confidence and self-awareness so that our outer selves can remain calm under pressure, the book concentrates mostly on the more well-known idea of Imposter Syndrome. It states, “a lack of confidence, rejection sensitivity, perfectionism, depressed entitlement [undervaluing what you deserve], and feeling like a fraud.”
The main idea behind Composure: The Art of Executive Presence
The book explores how (mostly) women come to this state of mind, including childhood triumphs and traumas, as well as the characteristics that accompany it.
Overdeveloped external motivation, a collection of performance indicators such as grades and awards, a tendency to avoid new challenges in order to avoid the possibility of failure, and hypersensitivity to criticism.
The authors recommend that readers work on building confidence, composure, credibility, clarity, and connection, which are five important abilities connected with composure. The road to overcoming Impostor Syndrome is long but rewarding, with three stages: awareness, resolution, and change.
The problems of unresolved issues
Furthermore, Kate and Lee provide a lot of information about the waste that occurs when this happens. “Being left unexamined and unresolved,” they write,
Moreover, “Outdated and unnecessary Impostor Behaviors are certain to stand in the way. It also derails us from achieving our most inspiring visions of who we can become,” they write.
The authors’ grasp of the intricacies of insecurity and the mechanics of entitlement is given with a refreshing level of nuance.
Final verdict
Composure by Kate Purmal and Lee Epting is a brief, well-written book that largely consists of conversations between Purmal and some of her clients. They focus on difficulties such as setting intentions. Acting as if, establishing boundaries, dealing with conflict, and limiting negative self-talk and incorrect internal beliefs. There’s plenty of motivation and advice for overcoming frequent professional stumbling blocks.
The book’s misleading title and marketing text may make it difficult for readers who would benefit from it to find it. However, those who do will find helpful thought exercises to help them overcome their Imposter Syndrome.

Friday Flix Movie Review: Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler Movie Review
A nightcrawler, explaining to be an earthworm used as fish bait. That doesn’t strike you as especially threatening. Lou Bloom, the focus of Dan Gilroy’s intelligent, semi-profound new thriller, is no squirming victim. He’s a predator and a parasite, a bottom feeder who will find you when you’re at your most vulnerable and bite you while taking your photo. Nightcrawler’s cast includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, and Riz Ahmed in leading roles.

Not your ordinary Nightcrawler
Lou is a freelance news cameraman who captures video of weeping widows, home invasion casualties, and human roadkill for Los Angeles TV stations. He is played by Jake Gyllenhaal, who has the smile of a Boy Scout laced with lunacy. He’s the TMZ version of the original Paparazzo from Fellini’s La Dolce Vita.

The obsession with gore for Nightcrawler
Lou, who lives alone in a small flat, has a dream that gradually becomes an obsession. He sets out to corner the market after learning that local television stations will pay high money for films of accidents, fires, and crime scenes – the bloodier, the better. He races around the nocturnal streets with a police scanner and a cheap video camera, seeking gruesome pictures he can sell.
A partner adds up!
Lou battles with rivals and recruits a wide-eyed side partner (Riz Ahmed) as his firm grows, all the while justifying himself in management and self-help lingo. He is a quick study, and his amoral enthusiasm propels him from eager voyeur to something far worse. His sincere faith in himself is both amusing and disconcerting, and his utter disregard for ethical limits provides for some rather naughty entertainment. But that’s all there is to it. “Nightcrawler” is a sleek, superficial film that, like Lou himself, aspires to be more.
Nightcrawler – A modest Urban Thriller
Aside from its psychological depth, Nightcrawler works well as a short thriller, with cinematographer Robert Elswit giving the city night a chilly, metallic shine.

Final verdict
In its clammy, overdone way, “Nightcrawler” is a modest and nicely produced urban thriller, intriguing and enjoyable. While Mr. Gyllenhaal’s portrayal isn’t particularly convincing, it is methodical and precise in its creepiness, and Mr. Gilroy keeps the audience on edge, half cheering for Lou to succeed and partly dreading what he will do next.
